Owner description: At 509 meters high, this was the world's tallest building from 2004 to 2010, when the Burj Khalifa in Dubai surpassed it. The tower is reminiscent of a pagoda or a stalk of bamboo and designed to withstand typhoons and earthquakes common in Taiwan. Floors one through five are a shopping center and both the indoor (89th floor) and outdoor (91st floor) observation decks offer a 360-degree panoramic view.

Taipei 101 is a must for whomever visits Taipei. Great restaurants await you with amazing views. If you do not decide to take the tour to the top, you can still get an amazing view from one of the restaurants located in 101. Great shops as well for everyone, and great local food as well.

“Must visit”

I love is location especially the food court. If you run out of time to visit the night market this is the place to enjoy many local special food at a reasonable price.

“Worth a visit....”

....for the experience and the view!
Not impressed by the shops (not keen on stuff made from coral!) which is very expensive!

“Worth a visit”

Taipei 101 is definitely worth visiting while in Taipei. I found the views breathtaking. My only complaint would be that the windows need to be cleaned. The view was somewhat blurry.

“Good views”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

As this was once the tallest building in the world, it is definitely worth going to see. The views from the top (which you get to extremely quickly because of the high-speed lifts!) are very good on a clear day and you are able to take in a lot of the scenery for many miles around. The downside of this is that there is a very long wait and if you're hoping for more than just the view you'll be disappointed. Also, nothing really to entertain children. Having said that, it is much more user friendly than many other cities' observation decks with good (free) audio guides to each section and written information on each pillar.
