This area has several challenging hiking trails and is only an hour from downtown Taipei by metro and bus. We arrived about noon, had some lunch at one of the visitor’s centers and then started our hike up Mt. Qingxi. We hiked alongside volcanic vents with sulphur-laden steam, then started a long ascent up the mountain. It was a bonus that we managed to catch the blooming of the Sakura and we don’t need to travel to Japan for it. But the amount of flowers there were considered bait too little for a famous tourist attraction.
highly recommended for a day trip!!
