“Yangmingsan National Park”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

National park near Taipei can reach by bus and take small bus # 108 to drop by 13 points along the park. the bus can use Easy card to pay.

there are 2 kinds of bus, one bring you around the park and one just drop you at the first station to visit Er zi ping and the bus will back to the bus station again. Bus will come every 30 mins and last bus is 5 p.m.

from visitor center at Er zi ping, they provide the walk way can access by wheel chair or bicycle

Er zi ping need to walk 1,8 kms (round trip is 3.6 km), many of local people stop and walk til 1.8 k.m. where you can see the valley. there are rest room there too but no shops to buy anything to eat.

if you plan to visit Yangmingsan the whole area, bring along your drinking water and something to eat during the day.

do some exercise before visit the park!

“Too foggy to see anything!”
Reviewed November 16, 2012 via mobile

We took a bus up from xin beitou and was totally confused when we got out of the bus. It was raining and the weather was very cold. There was no sign or anything so we finally took bus 108 to go xiao you keng. That was probably the worst part of the trip. Along the way it was so foggy nothing over 5m is visible and the driver was speeding up the mountain. We got off the bus and was totally lost. We could not see anything and the info board has no direction what so ever. There was literally nothing other then the bus stop and a board without direction. To be safe we could only wait for the next bus to get down. In conclusion, we did not see a thing. Waste half a day just like that.

“A beautiful park to visit, even in the rain!”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

Loved walking around this park, especially seeing all of the moss growing on the rocks and trees, seeing the koi in the water by the temple and seeing the camellias in bloom, very restful and pleasing to the eye visit.

“Beautiful and well signposted”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

We spent the morning in Yuanmingshan on one of the trails and rate it as one of our highlights of Taipei. We hiked to the top of Cixingshan (Mt Cixing) and then on to Lengshuikeng. It was a great hike. Mt Cixing is a volcano at 1120 m high and is the tallest mountain in the Taipei area. We had great views of Taipei and the surrounding National Park area. The walk was easy though steepish in places. As you follow a stone path, it would be slippery when wet, so I wouldn't do it then. Hiking back down to Lengshuikeng was great, as there are hot mineral springs there where you can bath your feet for free, or you can go for a full body bath (also free) but you have to go nude (separate mens and womens bathing areas. How to get there: We took bus no. 5 from the Shilin MRT to get to Yuanmingshan. Then we walked about 5-10 mins to get to the Visitor Centre (follow the signs). There you can get English maps of the trails - although the park is well signposted anyway. Then we hiked up to Cixingshan (about 3 km) and down to Lengshuikeng (about 1.5 km). All up it took us about 3 hours, with lots of photo stops and rests. From Lengshuikeng we took a minibus (I think it was no.15) back to Shilin MRT. A great morning. We then went on to Beitou area for a look around that afternoon (check out the review).
