A beautifully landscaped garden with a little pond to invites you on arrival at this multi-level house turned museum. Entrance fee is minimal for accessing the house/museum. A knowledgeable host welcomes you in. This very old house was built in 1914 and has historic charm and beauty to it. The museum displays a cultural history of Taiwan in different forms. When I was there, the theme was on foods and baking of Taiwan; in particular, Taiwanese cakes. We learn in one room that the island is rich for producing sugar, pineapples and other foods which form the basis for their Taiwanese specialties. A hallway has different forms of old cake molds framed in glass displayed on the wall. Little mini TVs show how some cakes are made from scratch in bakeries. There is also a really lovely, interesting gift shop ground level in the house.
Taipei Story House is located at one end of the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, which is across the street from Taipei Expo Park, which is easily accessible because it is next to Yuanshan Metro station.
