“Decent Hotel”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

First off, wifi is very fast and strong. Beds are comfortable and some rooms even have tubs (but have no views0. Location is central as it is around 2 blocks from a blue line station (dunhua). At the back alleys are good restos from western cuisine and of course the famous taipei dumplings. It's safe as their is a guard at the lobby (though reception is at the 3rd floor).

Breakfast is poor and the dining area is small that you have to queue to get a table. Food is the same everyday.

Still it's worth the price.

Room Tip: Higher floors are less nois and get the one on the right wing of the hotel.

Newly renovated hotel opened in May 2013. Good value for its prime location in Zhongxiao East with lots of eateries and shops around the area. Not easy to spot from the main road - take Zhongxiao Dunhua station exit 1 and turn left after the second luxury watch shop.
Paid more for the bigger double deluxe room and it was worth it. Room was nice and clean though bed was a bit hard. Fast wifi was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast nothing to rave about. Polite and helpful staff.

Hotel location is good; slightly away fr hustle of bustle of zhongxiao Main Street but central enough to walk to the nearest MRT (zhongxiao duahua), shopping malls and local eatery.

Room is really tiny and tight for double occupancy with luggage, but comfortable. The hotel is newly renovated and they at least made the bathroom feels spacious. Value for $ for the location and comfortable stay.

A budget class hotel with a good location and reasonably comfortable rooms. Instead of looking for RF hotel sign, look for the Rolex sign, it points the way to the hotel.

Service: Cold mannered staff, stiff and not service oriented. Cut and dry.

Value: Good for downtown Taipei hotel.

Sleep quality: Very soft bed. wooden divan with sharp edges that skinned my shin. not comfortable. We were on level 5, room 508 and from around 11pm to 3am (midnight onwards) there is a scratchy sound of people walking on the floor above, and table and chairs dragged across the floor. I usually sleep soundly where ever I am but could not rest comfortably.

Cleanliness: Very good

Location: Smack in the middle of Taipei - Zhongxiao Dunhua area.

Rooms: OK for Taipei, but cramped. Had a small knee length bath in the toilet.

Room Tip: Gave us a room with NO windows. Asked for one and they upgraded us to their next level of room. As...

The hotel is halfway Zhongxiao road and therefore on walking distance of several sights, mist notably Taipei 101.
The entrance at street level is a bit difficult to find and not very inviting. Thing get better on the 3rd floor where the lobby is located. Friendly staff to check in. Room was nice. Clean, modern and comfortable. Only the ceiling in the bathroom was very low which made it difficult to stand under the shower (when you over 1.80m).
The breakfast was not really to my taste. Bit more choice in bread and egg would have been nice.
Considering the rates of other hotels in this neighborhood it was good value.

The location of this hotel is great, and I took a chance on RF Hotel (the "RF" stands for "Rich and Free" which is slightly confusing) despite the lack of reviews as I got a great sub $100 rate for a hotel in the heart of Taipei. True to its prime location, it is very close to an MRT (subway stop) and within walking distance to the City Hall area (Taipei 101), nearby restaurants, malls, and other attractions. The room was modern, large, and spacious, particularly for the price I paid, and it has all the amenities (safe, shower/tub, large flatscreen tv, etc.). It was slightly hard to find (lobby is on the 3rd floor, and the building is multiple use, and it says "Rich and Free" instead of RF) and the physical key access is a little old school and slightly inconvenient, but other than that I'm very happy with staying here and am glad I chose it despite the lack of many reviews (because it is so new); I wish I stayed longer!

The hotel is located right in the center of Taipei and in the shopping and entertainment area. It is also 10 minutes walk to Taipei 101 and closed to major sites in Taipei like Sun Yat Sen Memorial, night markets, etc, which are all accessible by MRT.

The staffs are very friendly. Rooms are very clean as this hotel has just been renovated. The price is very reasonable compared to other hotels in the neighborhood. The breakfast is a bit poor.

I will come back here again.
