“very nice concept.”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

We stayed for two notes at via hotel. Love their rooms and their 24hrs reception with free flow and drinks (softdrinks /coffee/tea).
I booked twin room but was told I booked the cheapest so its a double room which means one queen bed--"
But after our top up we were given a great room with spa amenities :)

Location was awesome though hard to find when we just got there.
Overall.. Great for small Families and with friends on budget :)

Room Tip: Pay more to get a room with spa bathtub ;)

After reading about the previous hard-to-locate reviews, I engaged the airport transport service from the hotel at a very reasonable rate and it was a breeze at check-in. There is another way of getting to the hotel from Ximen subway exit 6! At Exit 6, turn right and walk along the main road and you will pass by the new Westgate Hotel and the Qing Wa Xia Dan (loosely translated as frogs laying eggs) drinks/desserts stall. Turn left when you come across this stall and the Via Hotel extrance is 2-3 minutes away.

Breakfast is not provided but the staff will direct you to a row of Taiwanese traditional breakfast outlets just a few minutes away. The Ximending Yong He Dou Jiang's breakfast is something I miss dearly after having it only once during our trip. The brown sugar man tou with chicken thigh is mouth-watering!

Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful and will go out of their way to help you with directions to attractions/shops. Wifi is available throughout the hotel and the tv programmes have a good variety. Snacks and drinks are also available 24/7 but the cup noodles are available on a first-come-first-served basis and there's limited quantity each day.

Everything is good except for the hard beds and thin walls. The thin walls caused us much distress since the room on the left had nightly activities from midnight to 2am. The room on our right returned at 3am nightly and parties till 5am, every night.

Overall, the location is really awesome but the thin walls makes me undecided whether to stay here again although I know think walls are a norm in Taipei.

Like what most of the reviewers commented earlier, it was slightly hard the first time in locating the entrance of the hotel due to not really obvious signage as well as people around there wasn't sure too. The moment u get out of exit 6 Ximen station, head towards the obvious Face Shop along the street at the corner. You will then notice a 7-11 and Starbucks. Turn right into the lane at the 7-11. You will then see a few street shops selling clothes and take note of a signage with the hotel name on your left. You will not notice the lobby as you need to take the elevator to level 2 to get to the lobby. The ground floor is actually a huge clothes shop. It's a very strategic location as its just about 2-3 mins walk from Ximen station to the hotel. Check-in was hassle free. The staffs are indeed very kind and helpful in assisting us. Rooms was awesome as I took the double bed with bath tub. Big enough for 2 person and best part of the room is definitely the sealy bed. It was so comfortable that you just felt extremely relaxing whenever you're back to the hotel to have a good rest after a long day shopping and walking. The bath tub is also great to soak yourself after a tiring day. I would not recommend this hotel for group of friends due to its a transparent glass between the bath tub and the bed as the curtain is outside of the toilet. Some people might not feel comfortable. However, this is definitely a good choice for couple. There is also a simple pantry available for you to cook. Washing machine is available too and you may get the washing powder from the lobby. There are various food available throughout the day from morning to night. No proper breakfast will be provided. However, they do provide unlimited free flow of soft drinks, coffee and tea as well as some snacks 24/7 at the lobby. No worries on luggage excess as they do provide the weighing scale for you. Wifi connection is great. Fast and no hassle.

When I first stepped in the room I was disappointed. There is no window on the reception floor, after checked with the staffs they said there will have rooms checkout tomorrow at upper floors with windows and they can changed for us next day. We didn't move finally as there is cons staying at reception floor as there is a free drinks and snacks bar with a table and six chairs.
You can sit down at this little pantry like place to share the street food and chit chat with staffs.
Staffs are super friendly, cheerful and helpful.
Excellent location, if you don't mind it's crowned once get out of the hotel.
Rooms is average
Bathroom with tub is good.
Simple white design gives u clean feeling but room didn't smell clean.
Concerning location and service I might come back again. But I must reserve room with window.

Via Hotel is located in the heart of a shopping paradise. Ximending is the shopping paradise & harajuku of Taiwan. The MRT is just a 3 min walk from the hotel so transport is not a problem. Food is also abundent even till midnight as the shops operate till late, including shopping!

As Via Hotel does not provide breakfast (but a all day food and drinks bar), you can easily find food just outside the road. The shaobing & danbing taste great and is only SGD2.50. Their soya milk is fresh and good.

As most people would complai they can't find the hotel, I didn't have that problem. All you need to look out for is a 7-11 & Starbucks at a corner and just walk right into the lane.

The staff are friendly and ever ready to help. Would definitely stay there again!

This hotel is conveniently located - near Ximen MRT and located in one of the bustling streets of Ximending. The room is cozy (they used Sealy mattress for their beds). The pantry located at the reception area at Level 2 has free coffee and tea, water, biscuits and tidbits. They even offer cup noodles. In the morning, you can have toast and coffee to perk you up.

Do not expect to see the hotel reception desk at Level 1. Their reception area is located at Level 2, therefore need to take note of the signage located at Level 1. There are clothing shops located at Level 1. The hotel will highlight to you that their reception area is at Level 2 when they send the booking confirmation to you.

Currently some of the rooms are undergoing renovations. I heard some knockings during early evening on one of the days. Didn't hear knockings in the night. I felt the wall / door is a bit thin as I could hear my next door neighbour closing their doors in the morning and mumblings if they talked too loud along the corridor.

The room that I stayed in has see through bathroom, i.e. you can see the entire bathroom in the room. They provide curtains in the room for you to cover the bathroom. Not a bad idea for those who wants to watch the TV when they shower. Perhaps not too ideal if are travelling with friends who may feel insecure.

The service of the hotel staffs were great, like all Taiwanese who are friendly and helpful. They offered advise to us on our travel plan, could tell that they served with a heart, unlike other country where the staff would expect a tip to serve you better. Room was small but comfortable. Location was convenient too, few mins walk to the train station.
