Very nice hotel, staff very great and spoke good english. Hotels rooms were of a decent size, very well furnished. Nice and comfy beds, quiet rooms. Good selection at breakfast. Overall, for the equivalent of 65 GBP per night incl breakfast this was good value for a 4/5 star hotel

Booked this hotel from airpot due to unexpected overnight. I chose it based in Trip Advisor reviews and was very pleased with the hotel. Clean, attractive, good service an good value. Would gladly return.

We are just finishing a five night hotel stay at the Riviera, which we chose based on tripadvisor reviews. The reviews are right on--nicely appointed rooms--good size, comfortable bed and furnishings, flat screen tv with HBO cinemax and CNN channels, all the comforts--hairdryers, magnifying mirrors, safes, ironing boards and all the outlets have 110 power. The rooms are very quiet, even rooms on the street. I had requested a foam pillow due to allergies and it was waiting in the room. Great toiletries and water are provided; housekeeping staff is wonderful and friendly and they freshen the room during a turndown service. There is free wireless internet and several computers you can use if you didnt bring one--in the lovely 7th floor executive garden and in the lobby lounge. there is a rooftop fitness room and jogging track but we walked so much around the city we did not use it. We enjoyed both the breakfast buffet and service every day. We ordered room service one evening and enjoyed our dinner served to us in the executive garden.

The reception staff are just marvelous and helped us in so many ways. Claire Lim, duty manager, and her staff answered our many questions, made recommendations, checked facts, provided directions, filled out taxi cards with our destinations in Chinese, arranged a visit to a Chinese health spa, and much more. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the Yuanshan MRT station and is three blocks from the airport bus arrival stop. The hotel offers a free one-way shuttle to the Taipei 101 on the weekends; coming back via the MRT is very easy.

I plan to stay at this hotel on any future trips to Taipei and I highly recommend it.

We travelled here with our 18month old son. Lovely hotel - has been the best tourist hotel in Taipei on a couple of occasions and its easy to see why. It's known for its pastries and bread throughout the city. We had a room with a small kitchen dining area - which was great as it meant we could leave the baby in the bedroom and watch tv (limited choice of english speaking channels), eat etc with out waking him up. Average size room, with a nice cot for the babe, clean but small bathroom - with washing powder thoughtfully supplied. Excellent and fairly priced room service. Great breakfast and pastry shop. The pastry chef here is simply superb - and the best cheese we had the whole trip. The staff couldnt do enough for us and our son and were very tolerant of his toddling. The only slight note of caution I would say for crawling and toddling babies is that all the rooms are arranged around a central atrium with attractive glass bannisters. These dont however meet at the corners where there are pillars and the space between is a perfect size for little people to crawl straight through so watch them like hawks. Each floor had a little sofa area which was nice to sit and read in for us as we didnt go out much once the baby was down. There are some good restaurants and street food nearby. We loved this place I think the only thing they could add to make it better would be a pool but its a great place to stay.

We spent ten days exploring Taipei in August 2008 and were most fortunate to have chosen the Riviera. This is a beautiful small property a bit off the beaten track but quite modern and comfortable. Our room, actually a small suite, was perfect for us and the staff were most helpful and eager to be accommodating. Our stay included the breakfast buffet which was incredibly sumptuous day after day with a series of "food stations" each featuring typical breakfast fare from a different country. Wired and wireless internet were free. The subway is a five to ten minute walk away as is the modern art museum.

Here's the short of it. Our 2 days in Taipei, solely for seeing the Palace Museum, ran into a Typhoon, closing the Museum. The staff was wonderful. With the entire government and most of the city closed for the storm, they shuttled us to Taipei 101 (sadly, because of the storm we could not get above the 5th floor mall, but we got the idea of it, and a couple of views from the ground), arranged for a foot massage, guided us around the neighborhood and forced countless umbrellas on us. I wouldn't even think about trying another hotel in this city.

We spent four nights at the Riviera and were absolutely impressed by the accommodations and the service. The breakfast buffet was also outstanding.

The staff was very helpful and provided recommendations for two excellent, yet reasonable, nearby restaurants; the Xianye (Taiwanese food; 3-minute walk) and the Celestial (Peking Duck; 5-minute taxi ride)

There are a couple of options for getting to the hotel from Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). If you don't want to spend $NT1200 on a taxi, you can ride an airport shuttle ($NT90 per person) that will drop you off near Tatung College (near Chung Shan N. Road & Minzu E. Road ); a 5-minute walk from the hotel. The hotel is also a 10-minute walk from the Yuanshan MRT station or a 20-minute taxi ride from the National Palace Museum.
