“Grand Hyatt-Bad”
Reviewed June 29, 2013 via mobile

I travelled to Taipei and was told by Amex Centurian to try the Hyatt. I had a room in the Grand floor with access to the club. The room was dark and dingy, old furniture and uncomfortable beds. Small TV unmordenized bathroom. Air con was not working and found out from the manager that is was not working and was due to be fixed! Why put me there then! I had the engineering come in twice and finally slept in heat. Had dinner at the Shanghainese restaurant, very disappointing. Had booked dinner for my anniversary at the Taiwanese, but cancelled due to my experience with the Shanghainese. Booked a Steak dinner once more. I cannot say anything good about the hotel. It was my worst experience with Hyatt.

Wow, this place is the best! We are right beside Taipei 101 and centrally located in the city. Comfortable and quiet accommodations. The breakfast bar is the best, many different choices of foods, fruits, breads, freshly prepared egg dishes, soups, and much more, the service is 5 star. I have to personally thank Anton Tseng, one of the restaurant managers, for personally tending to my gluten free needs. He made sure I had a basket of fresh gluten free rolls at breakfast each morning. The views from our room are spectacular. We have all that we need in our spacious room. I would recommend this hotel to anyone for business or pleasure. I will add photos soon.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the tower. The higher you go, of course the better the views.

The location is fantastic - Link bridge connection to Taipei 101 and through that to several other neighbouring shopping centres. Close to a number of other attractions including a night market.
Recently renovated, the rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Service is warm and thoughtful.
Don't miss the breakfast buffet - great selection of high quality local and international cuisine.

Lobby is made of marble and very swanky, room was mediocre, workout gym excellent, price a bit spendy, breakfast buffet excellent. Overall I'd give it a medicore rating mainly because I expected the room to be bigger and nicer.

Re: May 2013 stay -

I am somewhat picky when it comes hotels. I would stay here again for sure. Grand hotel entrance and lobby.

I was initially concerned about getting an old room instead of a new remodeled room when I booked it online

When we arrived, I requested for a renovated room at a higher level floor and one was available for upgrade at $1240NT per night. Considering it is only $40 USD I said yes. It was a great decision. Courteous concierge and check in staffs.

I like clean, modern rooms and this single king bed room had all the hotel luxury one would expect from a hotel of this caliber. Great bathroom with tub and shower.

Location: good location overall, wish it was next to a MRT station but that's the lazy side of me talking. Taxi rides are affordable so take taxi.

Highly recommend.

If you want a view of Taipei 101 remember to ask for it. We didn't And got a view of the residential side but it was fine since we weren't in the hotel most of the time anyways

Room Tip: Request for remodeled room Request Taipei 101 view Higher up is nice

Good location if you are looking to be near the 101 building. Service is excellent and friendly. We spent quick a bit of time at the bar each night - so have a good sense of it. If you sit outside at the patio, they quickly came to offer insect repellent to guests. The rooms are big, beds are comfortable but do need some refurbishment especially the carpets. Buffet breakfast is acceptable but not the best spread that I have come across

Clean rooms, great location, and friendly staff make the Grand Hyatt an excellent go-to property for business travelers in Taipei.

Sterile, impersonal, and grandiose make the Grand Hyatt the last place I'd go if traveling with my wife.

Spa is horrid- don't go no matter what.

That simple.
