Grand Hyatt Taipei

I stayed at the Grand Hyatt for 4 nights in late May. They have just completed remodeling the west wing of the hotel and I was lucky to get one (see the pictures). It was much more comfortable compared to the old rooms (which are nice but a bit bland). The decoration is very tasteful with a oriental touch. The bathroom is gorgeous with marble all over. All appliances are updated and lighting is centrally controlled at bedside.
However there are several areas of improvements.
- Shower is huge but there's no bathtub
- There are 2 shower heads: a regular one and a rainforest showerhead. Both are controlled by a single knob. Three times I overturned the knob and cold water showered down my neck from the rainforest showerhead. Not too pleasant but definitely wake you up good.

The Grand Club has returned to the 22nd floor. It was also updated and much more comfortable with lots of sofas and couches. There's now a chef preparing hot food during breakfast and happy hour times. One thing I don't like is that they got rid of the computers and printers. Guests now have to go all the way to business center on the ground floor to use the PC (I usually use them to print boarding passes).

This was my second trip to Taipei in a month and I stayed here for a meeting. The hotel was spotless and staff were friendly and helpful.
My room had an amazing view of Taipei 101 right below it so that was a bonus. Buffett breakfast was ok not amazing but certainly enough choice for most people. Bar was good although I have to say I stayed at the grand Victoria previously and eating and drinking was much cheaper. Overall if you stay here you won't have much to complain about. I will be back for sure

Great hotel, great service, and rooms. Buffet breakfast was amazing and def have the buffet dinner one night. Cheers bar is good fun, friendly but a tad expensive. Great location right next to Taipei 101 building.

This hotel has an excellent location in Taipei, just around the corner from Taipei 101. Although the hotel is currently undergoing renovations, because it is split into two wings, the construction work is almost completely unnoticeable.

On the whole, this is a typical upscale business hotel. The service, however, is a cut above what one might expect. I happened to be staying over my birthday and, upon checkin, the staff member noted this and hoped that I would have an enjoyable birthday. Additionally, when I arrived back at my room on my birthday, the staff had delivered a piece of cake with a note wishing me happy birthday. I certainly appreciated the gesture and I would definitely stay at the Grand Hyatt again.

the rooms were very comfortable esp the bed. convenient to the other hotels which i had to visit for events eg. W Hotel. All within walking distance. Breakfast had great selection of items. would have appreciated traditional postcards in the in-room stationery.

Very well poistioned property with the commercial district, convention centre, high end shopping, town hall and wide range of dining options within walking distance. There is also access to a major bus station and MRT.
The hotel is in the midst renovations which were visbly invisible but audibly present. I was given a room on one of the newly renovated floors. The room is spacious, and well appointed but my room came without a view. So perhaps ask for rooms on floors 9 and above to get a decent view.
The breakfast is standard for major 5 star hotels and understandably there is a heavy emphasis on local fare for breakfast options.
Concierge and door staff are very helpful. The hotel has a good gym which several machines. Did not get a chance to use the pool as it was raining for the days I was there.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on floors 9 and above to get a decent view.

please do something to improve the breakfast buffet which wasn't nearly as good as in other Hyatts. The selections of fruit, bread, cheese, cold meats were very limited and service could be enhanced.

On the plus side, all staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Check-in was painless and the room was, as they say, very well-appointed. Nothing was missing apart from room slippers for which I searched in vain. My view was good, despite miserable weather outside. The Cheers Bar was an excellent location for the chamber of commerce function which I attended. The food served was superb, a lot better than the following morning's breakfast, and the serving staff unfailingly polite and efficient.

All in all, a good stay.
