“A Good hotel for leisure”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

Sheraton Taipei is located in a very central place / reasonable quite area and easy to walk to Taipei Main Station (15 minutes walk) and convenient to go to every interesting places by MRT via Shandao Temple MRT station located in front of the hotel main road. All staffs were quite friendly and able to help you even you can't speak chinese. Our deluxe room (viewing the main road) is good and reasonable spacious with standard amenities and excellent bedding as well as complimentary drink bottles (4) per day. We stayed 6 nights package with 2 single beds and including breakfast, Free Wifi (quite stable and fast) in the room for max 3 devices.

As for food at the Sheraton:
* the Buffet breakfast is good with a lot of varieties of food i.e. bread/ muffins, cereals /salads/fruits, Asian (very good Congee) and Western warm meals. A recommendation for the breakfast would be:

- Availability of cheese is very limited (only one kind of cheese) and not really easy to find (nearby the Deli shop area) on the first day of our stay.
- Expect to have more dumplings variations knowing Taiwan is famous for its dumpling e.g world famous DING TAI FUNG Restaurant. At that time we find only 2 kinds of buns (plain and with custard) and Siew Mai.
- The breakfast is started from 6:30 am onwards (and not earlier) and we had to skip our breakfast on the last day as we had to catch a flight back at 9:40 am

* The Deli shop served an excellent coffee and a very delicious Apple Chocalate Mousse.!!! but rather small place to sit.

* We also had a late supper at Kitchen 12 restaurant and the food was very tasteful. We had Noodle Wontan soup (NT$ 440++/per portion !! but quite big portion) with a very nice presentation. We really enjoyed our supper with good live music from a group of 2 persons likely from the Philippines!!

* The dinner buffet was quite packed every night and seems very popular by the locals too. In general, the food is okay but slight pricey side (NT$990++) considering what you can get from the buffet.

All in all, we enjoyed our 6 nights stay at Sheraton Taipei as well as our holiday in Taipei and surely we will come back to this hotel if we visit Taipei again.

My first time to stay at this hotel which was clean and tidy with staff that were helpful and always polite. The hotel is located near the central train and bus station which is useful for getting around. The hotel has several cafes and restaurants with excellent food in a city that boasts excellent food. On your next stay try the spa for a little something extra. The rooms are typical mainstream good quality hotels that you would find anywhere around the world. Only thing possibly a drawback is location. If you like nightlife this hotel is not close to 101 where all the activity seems to happen. Otherwise couldn't fault it.. i stayed there because it is walking distance to NTUH, very convenient.

Room Tip: ask for a rooms with the street view

Dear caroldamici,

We appreciate you taking the time to review our hotel. It always gives us great pleasure to hear that guests enjoy the food and services we provide here. A wide array of cuisines are available at the 9 restaurants within the hotel. Whether you like Taiwanese, Thai, Japanese or Italian, we have it all here! One small advice though, because the restaurants are extremely popular among local patrons, we suggest you to make a reservation before you arrive in Taipei!

Thank you again for sharing your experience with us, and we hope to see you again!

A good stay overall. The service was good with friendly staff. They were always helpful and always happy to answer any questions. The room was decent but needed a bit of an update and some brighter lights. The gym was in good condition and the sauna was fantastic!

Taipei is an amazing city to eat in. I always love visiting and exploring the night markets.

A centrally located great property by Sheraton. Staff is very courteous and supportive. Its walking distance to taipei main railway and bus station in city center. A decent spread of breakfast buffet but service in restaurant is slow.

Great hotel for business or leisure. Location wise was great as the taxis are readily available outside the hotel. Taipei main train station is reachable by walking and connect to other places in Taiwan. Room wise, quite comfortable but the air-condition was not cold. Did complain to the reception and they sent the repairmen immediately to check on it.

Dear S_Hu6161,

Thank you for your nice comments. Our location is very convenient for business or leisure travelers as it is within walking distance from the Taipei Main Station and High Speed Rail. Also, for those who wish to explore the city via public transportation, the MRT station is right outside the door. Guests can purchase a day pass and visit many of the famous tourist destinations along the MRT, such as Long-shan Temple, Shi-lin night market, etc.

Thanks again for your review and we look forward to your return in the future!

Journey starting from the airport with Mrs Me and kiddies. There are a few ways to get to the hotel, fortunately I had someone here in Malaysia tell me about the bus. A family of 4 costs NT$240 for what's a ~70min drive to the hotel. The good thing about this is that you get dropped off on the street next to the hotel. Unfortunately I cannot remember the bus number but it actually says on the board that it goes to the Sheraton.

The Sheraton hotel Taipei is a nice building not really near anything in particular, you will find that getting around you will need a taxi. Entering the hotel is as you would expect with a 5 star hotel, the staff were professional and courteous taking our bags and sending them straight to the room.

With the general service, again it is of the standard you would expect of such a hotel however there were 2 occasions that I thought the service exceeded. The first was on the evening that we got in and a staff member brought up a small teddy bear and biscuits for the kids I had with me. It's nice that they hotel spend the time to make a gesture that the kids will have fun with. The second was a written letter to me explaining how to get from the HSR Hsin Chu station to the Sheraton there, I didn't expect a detailed written explanation so I'm glad it was done as it made my life alot easier. Sadly I never got to thank the girl for making the letter (my bad).

The rooms of the hotel are tidy but starting to show a bit of age. By gripe with the room was the pillows, they are the type where your head basically falls all the way through (feather I think) to me it's a bit awkward to sleep like that.

The noise level from the road and other externals was little to none, I had no problem with that and apart from the small pillow issue everything else was good. The bathroom and other areas we're as expected and clean.

One of the other good things about the hotel is the breakfast and dinner buffet (didn't have lunch) The spread is fantastic, there is a wide variety of foods all of pretty good quality and some that I didn't expect also (liqueur chocolates, German roast pork knuckle, etc..) the food alone in the hotel would make me come back :)

All in all I had a nice stay, if I had to stay in Taipei again I would most likely come back specifically because of the ease of getting to the hotel (takes a while but it's uncomplicated) as well as the food on offer but also because of the generally high level of service.

Dear Keith_KL,

We appreciate you taking time to write such a detailed review of our hotel. Yes, there are several shuttle buses you can take from Taoyuan airport to Taipei. You can ask airport personnel for assistance if you're not sure which bus to take. We are also delighted that you had a pleasant stay here and that you enjoyed the buffet restaurant. There are several other restaurants in the hotel, we welcome you to try it out during your next visit here!

One of the upside of Sheraton Grande Taipei being surrounded by government buildings is that patrons can enjoy a quiet, undisturbed rest when they return to the hotel after an entire day of excitement. If you want to experience the vibrant nightlife, the MRT station is right outside the door. It can take you to famous shopping districts, night markets, and other top tourist "must see/must go" areas. It is ideal for those who wish to tour the city via public transportation.

Service is our largest strength. We strive to make everyone's trip to Taipei hassle-free and enjoyable by assisting in any way we can. Whether it be sending an extra pair of slipper to your room or helping you book a High Speed Rail ticket, you name it and we'll be there to fulfill your need!

Thank you again for your review and we would be delighted to have you back as our guest in the future!

Warm regards,
Hotel Management

Spent three nights here while doing business in Taiwan. A very nice facility. New, clean and modern decor in the rooms. I always had a driver, so I can't attest to how close/far/convenient this is to anything nearby, I did notice a subway stop on the same block. Wasn't cheap, but was grateful this was arranged by my local partner as my travel agent could only find something 20k outside of town.

Had only one lunch at the hotel, and the buffet was marvelous, with an emphasis on seafood.

There were only two quirks. The first is that there are two elevator banks and they reach all floors but the 17th. If you are meeting someone in the executive lounge, be sure you are on the right elevator.

The second was, there was no hair dryer in room. Not that this really matters, as am bald, but I was hoping to dry the socks that I'd washed out. Whatever.
