Tucked away in a less touristy area, this is a real gem with very comfortable rooms, good facilities and a grand yet cosy lobby. For the foodie, the hotel has a number of good restaurants serving different cuisines and step out of the hotel, you can find streets lined with stalls selling local food. Not far from the hotel is the arty SPOT Taipei Film House, worth a visit for any indie movie fan.

I had great expectations from this high standard hotel.

If you do not go on the executive floor ,which is really really great but very very pricey, you will not enjoy your stay.

Rooms are totally outdated. Need fresh paint and new deco.

I went on summertime it was just freezing inside. I turned off the aircon but the maid who pass at least twice a day keep turing it ON so I was always very uncomfortable in my room.

Wifi is crap , specially within the room.

Breakfast, well if you are not Japanese and are not into seafood bad luck for you! The fish smell in the breakfast room is super strong. Disgusting for those who dont like fish specially at breakfast...

Service could seriously improve too .....

Excellent hotel just outside metro station and easily reachable distance from Taipei main station. Staff are excellent and amenities are good.

There are many for shopping around including mitsukoshi malls and underground shopping mall by metro.

Also, there is a Indian restaurant nearby in walking distance and you can enjoy the other country cuisines also as you can find restaurants of lot of countries. Hotel restaurant and breakfast also good.

I have stayed at this hotel six times in the past three years, and have liked it better each time. The breakfast buffett is beyond any I've seen in Asia, and the service is excellent. Rooms are very spacious and clean, it's the place to see and be seen in Taipei!

Attended a conference that was held here so stayed for 2 nights. Booked the hotel limo which was comfortable and with good service. Upon arrival, there was major renovation going on , even the main entrance temporarily shifted to the side entrance. The industrial glue smell was everywhere and strong. A staff received me at the car and I did my check-in in the room. And at every corner , there are staff standing and greeting everyone, impressive. Unfortunately this Regent is not in the GoldPoints program, so that's a shame

The room key is still literally a key, not a cardkey, so the hotel is pretty old. The room is surprisingly large, and though not renovated yet, it looks quite modern still, with the nice large shower and flat screen tv. Wifi is nicely complimentary and for unlimited devices

There is a branded fashion mall below the hotel, all the Hermes, botega venneta etc. you would want. But of course, unless you're from china or Japan, the prices here are higher than europe, US, Singapore or hongkong

The breakfast restaurant is huge also and appears newly renovated. There are floor to ceiling windows and letting the light in is nice. Room service is also ok, as is the laundry service

Didn't have time to visit the gym, pool and restaurants so can't comment

Thumbs-up:

1. Buffet area with high ceiling, lots of natural light, excellent spread.
2. Excellent food & ambience in its restaurants.
3. Best bed among all the hotels I have slept in, as if sleeping on Simmons backcare 3.
4. Prime location, walkable to other good restaurants, malls etc.

To improve:

1. The gentleman at the checkin, did not lift his eyelids to look at me, nor apologise nor explain, for 3.5 minutes, while I stood right in front of him waiting to be checked in. It seemed he was operating on his computer. All he said was "wait" (NOT please wait). No time to lift up his eyes one second to smile or nod or acknowledge?
2. His colleague, another gentleman, was also too busy to smile. The same cold look during the entire week I was there. Notice they were highly friendly to Japanese though.
