Except for the ideal location and how fantastic the room is (stayed in VIP room). There's nothing quite fantastic about the service staff nor service rendered. How about there's zero service nor warmth. To start with, the ladies at the front desk was snobbish or appeared snobbish. C'mon, the hotel is fantastic and location is good has nothing to do with you, so what's there to be proud of? And everyday without fail, they will call you at 1 pm (who said we can't sleep in?) to ask whether you want housekeeping even though the Do Not Disturb sign is switched on. Despite staying there for 4 nights in total, no privileges was given. They rang up at 12.06pm reminding you that check out time is at 12 pm. Not like anybody is coming into the room to clear up immediately since check-in time is at 4 pm so what's the hurry? Felt like I was being chased out. House keeping was less than impressive as well as there were still scraps (big time) on the carpet floor after they cleaned up the room so if you asked me, 50 / 50 for the hotel.

State of the Art!

From the exteriors, this hotel would look like a disco/ sleazy. However, the villas was AMAZING! Designer amenities (Loccitane), furniture, iPod docking sound system (Bang + Olufsen). Lovely bathtub, toilet bowl, rain shower! Feels great to have the royal throne warmed everytime you use it!Transparent glass shower does not have blinds, instead just a push of a button and it instantly turns opaque! Amazing stay! Very worthwhile for price paid plus its situated smack in the middle/ beside Ximending shopping district!

Breakfast was amazing too! See my pics~! Excellent Western & Chinese buffet spread.

Room Tip: Villa Rooms are fantastic! Stayed on first floor. Looks like a maze to walk through when enroute to...

Totally enjoyed my 9 nights stay at in House Hotel end of 2012-2013. Strategically located at Ximending, just a 5-min walk to the MRT station (exit 6). Initially, I didn't have a good impression because when we tried to check in at 8-9am, they asked us to check in at 4pm. That was really late compared to international timing of 3pm! That wasn't really appreciated because we travelled overnight and was desperately in need of sleep. Nevertheless, they offered to deposit our luggage in the rooms when it's ready so we did just that. On top of that, the Guest Relations Officers did not look friendly but when you converse with them or ask them for information/directions, they will tell you in detail. And well, our impression of the hotel changed after we checked in.

There was free WIFI without having to log in with a password throughout your stay. That's really convenient for frequent Internet users like us. Bed was fine for me though my fiance found it a little too soft for his liking. We love the TV which had many channels including global channels such as HBO etc. Adequate towels, both hand and for shower, plus bathrobes, room slippers, hangers, L'occitane products (soap bar, hand lotion, shampoo, soap, conditioner which they will replenish each time they clear your room regardless of whether the bottle is still full or empty; felt homey and cherished!). Bathing area was a little small, especially for a guy but shower pressure was excellent and most importantly, the toilet was bright and clean. That's really important. Sometimes a little brown stained spot may just spoil your impression of the hotel. I must stay that their housekeeping did a fantastic job. I believe their supervisor is an Uncle and together with his team of housekeepers, here's a big thank you for making our stay a pleasant one!

Can't comment much about their breakfast because we only had that once. That one time, it was acceptable. Spread better than other hotels in Taiwan but wouldn't say that it's a must-try. Oh yes! I must comment about their security. They would on the door alarm after 1am so if you want to enter the hotel after that, you will have to scan your room card to get in which we were really appreciative of.

The only downside would be the lift. There is only 1 lift to service 11 levels so you could really have to wait for awhile before boarding. Otherwise, great location, cosy room, clean, helpful, affordable rate (paid ard $560 for 9 nights ~ a steal!). Will definitely stay at this hotel my next trip to Taipei! Highly recommended!

Room Tip: No pool and gym. Try to get a corner room or room that is facing the main road. That's slightly...

Great location (close to everything), nice decoration (modern style), good service (helpful and friendly), full breakfast (variety of styles and in good taste), excellent room (spacious, clean, comfy, fully equipped and most importantly, shower is strong and hot enough) plus super value (few hundreds of HKD for all aforesaid)

Recommended by a local friend, this is a new property that will no doubt gain popularity as its discovered. Boutique styling in lobby and rooms, L'Occitane bath products, dual rain shower and tub. Bed was comfortably firm. Rooms are moderate in size but are well fitted. In the bustling Ximen district, the location is a winner. Staff are terse but by no means unfriendly or unknowledgeable.

Stayed Nov 11-14 -2012--3 nights

Overall nice hotel--free upgrade--nice gesture.

Location was great--many shops and restuarants.

2 points:

1) none of the female receptionists smiled or greeted (e.g. did NOT say good morning, afternoon, etc...nothing) when approached the reception area, who are pretty as others had mentioned, but they were just "cold." No greeting or smile--robotic and did not even want to answer questions--one of them--I think that one is in one of the hotel's website photos.

2) Inconsiderate guests before smoked in the room--we had to open small two windows which were next to neighbouring buildings' kitchens that produced cooking odours--could not win--but better than cigarette smell.

1,200 TWD from hotel to Taoyuan Airport--easily getting taxi--especially in the morning many taxis waiting for customers around the hotel area.

Valued hotel--just need to have friendlier female receptionists who want to serve guests by answering simple questions with a "fake smile."

Room Tip: Building was not a hotel--retrofit into a hotel so every floor has different rooms---pay for the top...

i have heard many rumours about hotels around ximending that it was very small. i emailed inhouse to request for airport transfer as i am not a fan of getting lost. their reply were prompt and information was accurate. a merc benz pick-up for 2pax was TW1200 and a mini van was TW1400. the recep staffs were very helpful. location wise, it is a short distance away from the train station. approx 5-10mins walk depending on the crowd. however, unless u are carrying heavy items, the walk allows you to pass by many street food and shops along the way. the room is very very comfortable. i traveled with my mum and she is very picky on room quality. the room was bigger than expected, the bathroom is amazing. fixtures and fittings were very new. overall, it was a good choice. for the price i paid, it was a very good deal. highly recommended to travelers who want a hotel that is value for money, good location and room quality
