“Pleasant and Comfortable Stay”
Reviewed May 19, 2014

We stayed 5 nights in a trendy twin room during our recent Taipei holidays in May. Though the room was a bit narrow and longish, it was surprising well furnished with all the requirements for a comfortable stay. However, the decor for the room was a bit too fashionable for our liking with designs of black butterflies and flowers on purple background. Also, the rooms are more suitable for intimate couples with only a glass panel and external curtain separating the showers/toilet from the bedroom/tv area. The hotel is only about 10 mins walk from the Nanjing East MRT station with a bus stop (with many buses available) conveniently located just in front. When we were staying there, construction of a new MRT line was in progress which made walking out and in of the hotel a bit inconvenient. There is a night market located just a few hundred meters away which is not worth a visit as there were not a lot of stalls. We only found out much later that Bus 1815 to Dharma Drum mountains actually stops in front of FX Hotel.

By New York-ish I meant small and compact, and likely renovated from an older establishment. I'd second the many opinions here that it's in a decent location, and fairly close to the metro. Free wi-fi, decent service and cleanliness. The only complaint is the prevalence of the smell of smoke despite no-smoking signs.

I tried to sum up our experience at FX Hotel in the subject line. The hotel offers average hotel experience with two exceptional qualities: the room quality is a solid 3.5 star, while the service and location are all fair and nothing exceptional. That said, we added a start to an otherwise three-star experience because of the overwhelming value that FX offers Taipei visitors. Despite their stated pricing, we consistently found pricing during May 2014 to be well below US $100 a night.

The hotel is also truly a 5 minute walk from the Nanjiing MRT stop, but the location not ideal because the subway station requires a great fair amount of navigation to travel anywhere worthwhile. We usually budgeted an additional 10 minutes of wait time on top of the 5 minutes of walking time to get anywhere we wanted to get.

Room Tip: The hotel is also truly a 5 minute walk from the Nanjiing MRT stop, but the location not ideal becau...

The Hotel is situated in a good area of Taipei from which you can get everywhere by metro located just a few minutes and a large number of buses that pass in the street.
From the international airport is easily accessible by bus No. 5102 in about 40 minutes while the other airport can be reached by subway a few stops.
The area around the hotel is interesting; evening in a street not far is one of the famous night markets in Taipei while during the day there are several small restaurants as well as pubs and cafes in Western or modern cut.
The hotel is modern and youthful thanks to the staff very young.
Maybe the environment can be a little over the top for the lights and flashy icolori and if it were located in cities like Tokyo could be compared to a love-luxury hotel.
But Taipei is not ok then Tokyo.
It must be said that I had requested a room with a bath and not a shower but maybe there was a misunderstanding during the booking process .... I think that the rooms with bath are only those of the upper class.
Despite the young age staff is prepared and fast in practice and also speak English really good.
The room has a modern design even if somewhat strange ... like for example the large bay window that overlooks the shower room. Fortunately, there is a curtain to conceal it.
The cleaning was not as accurate as you would expect from a four star hotel.
Be careful because if you want to change the sheets must say the staff leaving a special label on the bed; and 'policy is not entirely wrong to preserve the environment.
I did not use the restaurant so can not comment but I know from my sources that do not hurt either.
The price is not exaggerated then recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel with a good balance between price and quality.

The most impressive point that I can remember for this hotel is their comfortable lounge at 15th floor. After a day of tiring shopping at Taipei city, we went to the nearby night market for trying some local food and took the cab back to hotel. As the local food is not so in line with my taste, I felt a bit nausea (perhaps due to tiredness). After relaxing at their lounge, (with big tv screen showing documentary show, enjoying the complimentary tea& lollipop (chupa chups)...yes, first time I stay in a hotel with complimentary chupa chups..I felt refresh again. Thank u for providing such relaxing area for the guest!

Airport Transfer:
We took limousine service from airport to hotel costs TW1650 (which they offer two way for TW3000). Dun bother to take the 2 way airport service as I can conveniently get many cab (Toyota Wish for 7pax) from hotel to airport for TW800-1000.

Location:
The hotel is conveniently located with lots of bank nearby the hotel. (With Westin hotel just next to it & W hotel behind it). The mrt is within walking distance but we took cab to all location. Most of the tourist spot cost TW20-25 per passenger per mrt ride and cab cost around TW100-120 per trip. Cab save us lots of time and all the drivers are so friendly and like tour guide introducing many interesting Taipei story for us.

Hotel room is comfortable with clean washroom. Modern lift where u can enjoy fashion show while waiting inside the lift & looking at the mirror reflection on the door.

Went there over New Year's 2014.
Room: Comfy but the bathroom could do with some work and a good clean. View of the Westin and street below.
Service: Staff speak English well and are helpful.
Location: Easy short walk to the train station and taxis generally find this place quite easily. Had no problems at all. Starbucks, Mos burger etc are all located nearby.

Overall, would definitely recommend this place as a good spot to base yourself while you explore Taipei. Comfy and affordable.

Great little funky hotel in a fantastic location in downtown Taipei. Rooms were great with a lovely bed and a big desk and sitting area. Price was reasonable for a major city. Skip the breakfast, it was ordinary at best. Next door to some shops and very close proximity to a few restaurants.
