Stayed 4 nights in this hotel.. Choosed to stay in the main building so that we do not have to cross the road to have breakfast .. Free flow of drinks anytime of the day but pretty limited selection of breakfast choice... The staff are very friendly and helpful and location wise, just a 5min walk to Ximen MRT Station Exit 5/6.. Lotsa bubble tea and bakery along the way and very nice steamboat just nearby.. Just exit from Ximen MRT station Exit 6 and walk towards the Watson direction and you will hit this hotel.. Only thing... This hotel doesnt have wardrobe.. Only hangers to hang your clothes...

The 3 of us (wife, son and myself) stayed here for 5 nights recently. We made reservations for a family room about 3 months before that and after reading some reviews that they actually also have rooms in another building across the street, was hoping we would not be given those rooms. On the day we arrived, we got the room in the main hotel building itself. Room was kind of small with no wardrobe. With 3 luggages on the floor, it left just enough room for us to walk about. They did not have a no smoking floor, so our room stank of stale smoke when we went in. Luckily, the extractor fan in the bathroom managed to take care of that and it got better after about an hour. We also opened the windows to air the room. The proximity to Ximending was a plus point as it was a pleasant 5 to 7 minutes walk to the MRT station. The bed was hard though and they did not have extra pillows for us when we requested for them. Breakfast items were limited, but they do try to change the variety every day. The staff were friendly and were always polite and helpful.
For the price we paid, we don't have much to complain about but I hope they can improve on those areas mentioned. It will be a good 2nd choice hotel if your 1st choice hotel is fully booked.

Room Tip: If you don't mind the rooms across the road, they are bigger and newer and even have a sofa in r...

Chose this place to stay for 2 nights as the close proximity to ximending was attractive. Indeed only about 6-7min walk to the train station, with many shops in between for browsing. Booked the rooms via the hotel's website and got it for NT1880 per night. Had to make a deposit via paypal of 1 night's worth so as to secure the room. Left a remark requesting for a room in the main building and got it.

The room we paid for seemed to be the cheapest of their range and that explains the tiny room size. One side of the queen size bed touches the wall while the other was about 30cm to the other side of the wall. Walk 6steps and you reach the tiny toilet. Translucent glass panel demarks the boundary and you can see almost everything your partner did in the toilet. They managed to fit a 20+30inch flat screen Tv into the room. There's fridge and a tiny bar desk. Room was filled with a tinge of cigerette smell.

I stayed at the ECFA Hotel (located at Chengdu Road, Taipei) for 4 nights. The location is quite good, walking to the MTR station (the Xiemen station exit 5 or 6) is about 15 minutes. There are a lot of shops you can window shop while walking to the station, so you would not notice the distance.
The service of the Hotel is very WONDERFUL, they provide 24 hrs free, yes, it is free, drinks at the lobby. You can just walk in and have your coffee, or, Chinese tea, or grape/orange juice. The staff there do not check your ID, you can just go there and have your drinks for free!
Breakfast do not have much choices, but the taste is good.
Yes, the outside part of the hotel is very good, BUT, when you take the lift to go to the rooms, first you will find the life is very old. I was lucky because I was offered a room on 2nd floor, so I just use the staircase to go up and down. The ceiling is low, I am 1.84M, I can touch the ceiling without the need to jump. And, I found two packs of condom supplied by the Hotel inside the room! The air-con is not adjustable, I nearly frozen while sleep.

We stayed at ECFA Hotel Taipei on Aug 18th, 19th and 21st 2011. After registering with the front desk, we were informed that our room was located in another building as the rooms in the main hotel were full. After crossing two traffic lights, we were led to a residential building There was a massage shop on the ground floor and a few other shops on the basement floor. We went into the lift and scanned our room card (good security) which took us to the 10th floor . From here, we had to climb 13 flights of narrow steps to get to a mezzanine floor. The ceiling on this floor is rather low by Asian standard and we had to make several turns before reaching our room.

The room was spacious for 3 persons – there were two king-size beds, a small table, a mini fridge, a mini heater, two sofa chairs and a coffee table and a big LCD TV. There was no cabinet but a bar with only 4 hangers.. The bathroom has a big rectangular bathtub without any shower curtain, a sink without vanity top and clean towels.

We stayed for 2 nites and checked in again one day later for another night stay at ECFA. For the last night’s stay, we requested for a room in the main hotel. We were lucky to get one except we could only check in at 10 pm.

Breakfast was consumed in the main hotel. The dining area was rather small and food was not replenished until we alerted the front desk. The food was not great and you must clear the plates when you are done with your breakfast.

Conclusion:
The plus points of ECFA are the clean rooms and the close proximity to the Ximen Station. The minus points are that it is a little expensive (with a room charge of TWD2,880 for triple sharing) as it’s run like a budget hotel. The mezzanine floor appeared to be an illegal extension. Make sure you request for a room in the main hotel if you choose ECFA.

Room Tip: Make sure that you request for a room in the main hotel
