“small, busy night market, authentic local food but far from MRT”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

Went there for the top 2 local delicacies which I listed from my research, oyster omlette and yam balls.

Disappointed to find the 圓環邊蚵仔煎 is closed, though it is not their off day (Mon). So tried out another similar shop with queue, like the oyster soup, not fishy, fresh and tasty (see pix), oyster omlette was so so.

The yam ball stall has long queue, cheap and good.

My only negative point: it's a long walk from either ZhongShan or ShuangLiang MRT station (中山/双连站), easily 15min.

It's more a night market with food stalls, not much to shop.

“Authentic Taiwanese Food Galore”
Reviewed May 1, 2013 via mobile

If you want to try authentic local food, this is the night market to be at. A straight forward 10 min walk from the MRT.

I found the food too authentic for my taste. The smells & taste are unique. However, it is worthwhile to experience what the locals crave. The fried calamari is a must try!

“Fun Night Market in Taipei”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

There are about 8 well known night markets in Taipei and this is one of them. This night market consists of two rows of food stalls facing each other with a walkway in between them, down the middle of the street. When busy, it is difficult to maneuver your way through the walkway crowds to get from one end to the other. The food selection offered is wonderful though, and you will enjoy sampling the foods. I tried little fried crabs myself. On the street just before the entrance to the market, is a street restaurant that is famous for their oyster omelettes with a sauce. There are very long lineups to buy a plate of omelette with sauce ad the cook works very quickly to fry these mini oysters with beaten eggs. They must go through millions of eggs here. It is a delicious dish and a signature of this particular night market. The market also offers Taiwanese specialties, as well as beef steak served on cast iron plates, German pigs knuckles served with coleslaw, drinks, baking and many other foods. It's a treat to visit here for foodies; visually it is so interesting and tastewise, it is a treat. At the far end past the food stalls are all kinds of carnival games in a very brightly lit area. Along one side of the street are many restaurants, and they are very busy with customers in the evening for dinner.

“One of the better night markets in the city”
Reviewed March 29, 2013

The place is not as gigantic as Shilin but the food quality is definitely better. You may be disappointed if you go there for non food items as the place is priorly for food.

“Small but selling different food”
Reviewed March 28, 2013

Love this night market and went back twice during my only 5 nights stay in taipei. It is smaller than the other more famous night markets but not many of the stalls repeatedly selling the same food. The queue for some stalls might be long but don't worry, they are moving fast.
