“Average but cheap!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 1, 2014 via mobile

It was fairly average but the animals were kept in relatively good conditions and the price was super cheap. Maybe worth it on days where it wouldn't be busy but probably not worth it in the holidays .

“Value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2014

The Taipei Zoo's entrance fee is probably one of the cheapest in the world! Entrance fee is only 60 NT (about 2 USD)!

The zoo is relatively well-maintained and there are quite a huge variety of animals inside.

It is also worth seeing the baby panda Yuan Zai.

There are a lot of vendo machines around the zoo, although restaurants are not too many.

If you want to visit the whole zoo, you will need to be there the whole day. The zoo closes at 5pm, but the indoor viewing areas close by 4:30 pm.

“What a bargain!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2014

Another fun day in Taipei. This time to visit the baby panda Yuan Zai (who was asleep in a tree!). At the time of reviewing visitors are allocated 10 minute time slot for the Panda House due to baby panda national popularity (there is also a huge panda themed gift shop as one would expect).

Lots to see, and animal welfare seems generally very good, they have made the effort to create natural habitats. Personally I found the area that focuses on native Taiwan animals the most interesting - for example cute little deer, and Taiwan bear.

The bird area was also very interesting.

There is enough English information to make a trip informative, but the displays are not all bi-lingual. I suggest this will not be a huge problem.

adult admission is 60NTD (about £1.20!) which makes it superb value. There is a train service to go to different areas of the zoo which is 5NTD per trip. Both can be paid for with the EasyCard (the pre pay card for the Taipei subway system). The low price is due to the Zoo being owned by Taipei government I think.

Even though we were both tired we really enjoyed our day!

The Taipei Zoo is a must for anyone who loves animals and flowers. The zoo is well laid out and an easy walk. Once you pay your approximate $2 ticket for entry, you are given a separate ticket for entrance into the panda exhibit. I arrived close to opening and went straight to the panda exhibit. They staff have lines set up based on your time of entry. The exhibit is well organized and you follow a path through the outdoor and indoor exhibits. Everyone has the opportunity to view the pandas and take photos on your way through. In addition to the pandas, there are a multitude of animals including penguins and a bird watching area. There are plenty of bathrooms, picnic facilities, snack bars and gift shops. There is even a McDonald’s (which was very popular) and a 7 Eleven store.

“Not too bad”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2014

The zoo was rather big but entrance ticket is really one of the lowest in the world.
Was crowded on a Saturday afternoon, visited the panda, elephant and koala enclosures. Nice friendly staffs at the giftshop. Good for a visit if you have ample time during your trip in Taipei
