MudanHouse

Doris, the host, is simply amazing. When I had stupidly booked the wrong dates for our stay, she booked us at a brand new hotel not far from Mudan House for an insanely low promotional price. When we actually did stay at Mudan House, it was more than what a hotel could offer. This place is in no way a hostel. It's a cozy mini boutique hotel. The furnishings are exquisite and some of the details in the decor are an interior designer's wet dream. We only stayed one night and regret that we didn't have the opportunity to stay longer in Taipei. It's not in the most convenient location but Taipei taxis are so cheap and the metro stop is about a 15 minute walk away.

As a final word, Doris should be praised for her attention to detail and commitment to her guests.

I stayed Mudan House for 3 days and 2 nights and it was the best hostel I have ever stayed in. It shouldn't really be labelled as a hostel given the high level of service and creature comforts offered. New furnishings, lcd tv, free good speed internet access etc. One small and minor thing, it is a 12 minute walk from the MRT but you can always catch the taxi for $70 TWN // $3.00AUD (approx.) but do apologies to the driver first because it is a really short trip for them.

I just came back from short trip to Taipei and have to say the best thing about it was this guest house. This place is really clean, comfortable and well run. The rooms are small but functional and stylishly decorated with a good range of facilities, the wifi/broadband in all rooms is super fast and free. The hostess/manageress DORIS is friendly and helpful to a fault, she even walked me to the bus stop to make sure I caught the quickest bus to the airport (and if she hadn’t I would probably have missed my flight). Location is good for small inexpensive diner/restaurants of local food and the buses and MTS are only 1-2 blocks away. Breakfast was excellent and a pleasure every morning. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a comfortable inexpensive stay in Taipei, and would definitely stay there again.

This has been the best hostel I have stayed so far from all my trips on backpacking. The place is in excellent condition, well kept and maintained. The decoration is also done with taste. All the 6 rooms come with attached bath and it’s very clean and comfortable. Towels, bath gel and shampoo are also provided. I am very particular on cleanliness and this place is top notch. The room also comes with a 32" LCD TV and there is cable TV provided. There is a pantry on the 3rd floor for simple coffee and tea. Washing machine and dryer is also provided for free. I was extremely impressed that the hostel came with a lift as well!

The host, Doris, is probably the friendliest person I have met on the trip. She went all the way to help me find my camera which I have left in a public bus. She is also very bubbly and hospitable. Her aunt cooked a delicious breakfast which is included in the price you paid.

The location is not near an MRT but the buses on the main road bring you just about anywhere. Walking to the MRT will take about 10-15 mins. If you come from the airport, take the Bus from the airport to the Taipei bus station and then take a cab from there, it will probably cost only NT100 on the cab.

I cannot stop talking about how nice the place is when I met my friend in Taichung. I would have stayed there longer if not because of my schedule. I will definitely go back to stay again and have no qualms about recommending anyone to stay here! It's a place not to be missed!
