This is our second stay at Qstay. Just like the first time, booking was done through email. Since they have promotions on their FB account, I availed on this promo which is 20 % discount. However, the inclusive date only was on our first day, the last 2 days we were charged the regular rate minus 5% discount if paid in cash.
Originally, I booked only for 2 pax since I got our tickets using my airline mileage. However, my daughter on the last minute decided to join us. I did not amened my booking with the hotel. We arrived in the morning flight, so we took the Freego bus at NT140 each and drop us directly near the hotel, TS hotel bus stop which is just across the street. Along the way, you need to transfer to a smaller bus since the Freego bus is going to the Songshan airport.
We checked in at the hotel before noon and Benson when seeing that we are three, asked me if I am Ok with sharing bed with our daughter and they would occassionally charge extra for the third person.
I said that is Ok and I am willing to pay the extra charge but Benson said he will just waive the extra charge and booked us in. I paid in Cash so I can avail of the 5% discount. I also requested extra towel. After resting for half an hour, we decided to go to Din Tai Fung ( XinYi Branch) for our lunch. Qstay is less than 5 minutes walk to the Ximen subway station. We bought the YOYO subway card for NT200, which is NT100 deposit and NT100 to be consumed.
It was raining the whole day and the weather was very cold, so we decided to quit the day early and got back at the hotel by 6 PM. That night, our first problem happened, the toilet bowl was clogged and will drain very slow. This get worse in the middle of the night when the toilet bowl get totally clogged.
Since there is no reception in the night, I need to wait until morning to report the problem. I send them SMS instead and by 8 AM in the morning someone came and help us remove the clogging.
I should also mention that the hotel shower heater is not ideal for winter season. These are the typical in-pipe water heater/burner which is difficult to control.
The pantry has some snack foods that is open for hotel guests 24 x 7..
On our last night, I asked Benson if he can print my boarding pass since I did web checkin. I send him the boarding passes through email and he printed them for me for FREE,
However, the next morning when we checked out, Benson is not the one manning the reception area, and the second guy asked me how many are we. So I explained to him we were three and I have talked with Benson and everything is OK. But he still keeps telling me that I should have booked 3 pax. etc. But eventually he said it is Ok, but next time, that should not be the case.
We took the taxi from the hotel to the Kuo Kuang bus terminal at train station East B terminal. This is actually located on the left side of the main train station when facing the station.
Next time, I may try the other hotels nearby, like the TS hotel, Rainbow hotel in the middle of XMD.
Overall, I will think twice in staying at the hotel again if not for the reasonable rate.
