room is spacious and very large, specially for the price paid. love the amenities - free snacks and the room is very well kept. very accessible as it is quite near to the train station and there are lots of convenience stores and restaurants on the way. it is also a bit central so getting in and out by taxi is not a problem. breakfast (they issue coupons) is fair and self-service but for the price you pay, it really is well value for money. building doesn't look good but inside, specially the room is suitable and okay. would definitely love to stay there again if in the city soon and in budget.

First the downsides of which there are a few. The hotel is in need of some updating; its quirky (there was a window between bathroom and bedroom? oil paintings of Europe in an Asian hotel? teddy bears lining the stairway down to the breakfast room?), clean and has charm- but could use updating. Those that sleep light might have trouble with noise from hallway or the fairly busy street the hotel is on. Calling the bed firm is an understatement.

But none of those issues bothered me. The occasional noise never disturbed my sleep. The quirk and charm of the hotel overcame its somewhat dated decor and although I worried about the bed (it is hard) I actually slept well.

Beyond that the hotel does everything else right and is an outstanding value. Location is great (MRT, shops, restaurants, bakeries all within a block or two). Its clean. The staff are great, everyone from front desk, housekeeping and breakfast staff were helpful, seemed genuinely cheerful and concerned about making our stay as pleasant as possible. The room although somewhat small has everything a traveller needs (they supply the things that other hotels say contact front desk if you forgot to bring it). They provide fresh fruit in room upon arrival and replenish ramen noodles, snacks (dorittos and some strange rice snack), and bottled water daily. Breakfast like the hotel is not fancy but functional. There are 5 or so english language movie channels. The hotel grew on me the longer I stayed, I think a lot of it has to do with the staff. If your looking for value, function, location, and good service this is a great choice.

The front desk is very helpful but with limited English. Room key is a regular key and when you leave you leave the key at the front desk. My room was for four people and non smoking. The room is kinda small. They have complimentary; water bottles, tea bags, instant coffee, instant noodle, slippers, condom (dresser) and fruit's in the room. Mini frig is also there. Good size bathroom.Towels are old and worn out but clean. The breakfast was pretty good. If you like rice porridge with toppings ( bamboo shoots, seaweed, etc..) toast, fruits, coffee, juice, etc...
Small dining area and a lady washes your dishes right in front of you. That part was weird but at least you know your dishes are really cleaned but not sanitized. I didn't get sick so I guess it's not too bad.
BTW, this hotel is located in a area where men can get special attention needed ( i been told) I am a female and I didn't noticed.

We stayed for almost two weeks in November and it is a fine place to sleep, have breakfast, and get ready for a day of sight-seeing in Taipei. The hotel is near a Metro stop, a night market, and lots of bakeries, shops, and restaurants. It is non-Western enough to make guests feel like they are in Taiwan, yet it has everything that international travelers expect.

We all enjoyed the breakfast with its freshly prepared Chinese items. The staff were always helpful and ready to assist with any request.

Room Tip: Ask for a triple on a high floor -- you'll have more room.

We booked a VIP room for 4 nights. Room is average and comfortable (enough) for 2 adults and 2 children under-5. There's a REALLY HARD king-size bed and one pull-out couch in the room. It was more comfortable to put extra blankets on the pull out and sleep on it than the huge bed. Lights switches in the room were confusing, but we manage to figure it out in the end. There's a tv with plenty of channels to choose from (for those rainy nights when we head back early but didn't want to sleep just yet). We were given a room at the top floor so view was good, and no noise from the street below. Initially we booked for a VIP room with a jacuzzi, but on arrival was told it was no longer available and was given one with a sauna (which we didn't use). Bathroom was adequate, room was cleaned daily and all amenities replenished daily. There's free snacks and drinks everyday :)

Breakfast is a very very very simple affair. And you have to bring your own plates etc to the counter when you are done ;) Would be better off going outside and getting some real Taiwanese food to eat. Quite a few eateries around the corner from Yomi Hotel. Location-wise, it is nearby to some shops (walking distance) but for the price I paid I had rather stay somewhere near to Ximending area.

Didn't use any of their facilities in the basement (breakfast etc all down there). Their wifi reception on our floor was excellent though.

Overall it's an average hotel. A little bit disappointed as I was expecting more after reading the reviews on here. For the price paid, I would be better off staying at another hotel nearer to the main shopping areas and night markets. Sorry Yomi, won't be back unless everywhere else is full.
