Decent hotel close to downtown and two metro stops. For the good stuff: Hotel public areas are well maintained. Gym is fantastic, clean and has most everything you need. Located close to downtown (Ximen metro stop). Room pretty good. Staff willing to help out. Bad stuff: After helping you the staff immediately had their hand out for a gratuity. $15 US for breakfast (many eateries within 5 minutes of hotel and cheap). Internet extra (a lot of money). Bathroom not well maintained or clean. The bathtub (I think) was for a dog, midget, munchkin, whatever. I've never seen anything like it before. Toilet paper dispenser behind the toilet and hidden by the seat cover which isn't bad if you're a contortionist, which we weren't. The towels provided are in the 100 grit range (very abrasive) but useful for removing the mold and mildew in the shower. The shower leaks ... which explains the additional drain by the toilet; bring your rubbers with you if you have business to attend to after a shower. The website says incredible city view, and it is if food advertisements on adjacent buildings make you happy. We were on an upper floor and didn't see much but did hear all of the people having a family reunion in the hotel running up and down the hallways. I like family get togethers ... but not when I'm not invited.

We have been stay here for 4 nights and book 2 rooms next wo each other, as my extended family also joing us in this trip. The hotel staff has been very considerate of our need of young children's and asthma problem, allow us to have an extra hour of check out, and trying to change room for us which we really appreciated. Good location and easy access to public transport, clean room, and nice facility. The put an extra DVD play in our room for entertaining our kids, really thankful about this....which ease our trip a bit.
I think they have reasonable price compare with the same range hotels, its proce is between US$100-150, it depends if you book it early or not, or if you book it online?
We definatly enjoy our stay here, and will recommand this hotel to our friends, and hopefully come back again.
Thanks Garden hotel team, you give us a nice staty.

The hotel is nice and clear and the service is good and friendly. The location is ok and a lot of shopping areas are very near. Also very near is the gay pub area witch is located on the main street in front of the hotel. Both places are arraivibel by walk . The price for a room like this is in my mind a little bit to high. I got already better hotels for lesser money. But totaly it was good and nice to stay there.
Best regards
Daniel

The hotel is located within walking distance to the shopping area in Taipei. The hotel itself was simple but nice, with comfortable rooms, and buffet breakfast with great variety of food.

Nice experience in this hotel.

Nothing to pick on in terms of deco, comfort, cleanliness, amenities, location etc. The room was spacious with a dedicated space for luggages. There's a feedback form on the desk - shows how sincere the management is about providing a comfortable stay. The bathroom was spacious. My only grouses are the lack of free internet & wifi and the limited TV channels. There were more China shows than Taiwan shows - pretty disappointing and could be the limiting factor as to whether I would choose to stay there again on my next visit.

It’s the newest hotel in this popular shopping district in Taipei. Just a 3-min walk to the nearest metro station or a 10-min walk to the busy Ximending area. For a 5-min cap ride you can easily get to the Taipei station for all kinds of transportation such as hi speed train or airport bus. There’s almost no shop or restaurant in the neighborhood, just a Carrefour across the street, but as a tourist, it’s not the shop for you.

The room was clean and comfortable with all the amenities you need, but nothing fancy to talk about. There’s no view out there coz it’s located in a pretty old neighborhood. Since lots of tour groups stayed at this hotel, the lobby and the restaurant area were pretty crowded most of the time. If you don’t smoke, pls make sure you insist to have a smoke-free room, coz many guests still smoking in the room and I had to change the room to stay away from the really heavy smell. The breakfast was pretty basic but with good quality. For a 4-star hotel close to Ximending area with a very reasonable price and service, the Taipei Garden Hotel is a good choice.
