“A victim of its own success”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2013

San Want has always been my first choice of hotel in Taipei for 4 years now. Very friendly and professional staff, quiet and well located.

It is difficult to get a reservation now but it seems the staff haven't got used to the situation and appear stressed due to the numbers of guests.

When I arrived at 7pm I asked for 2 shirts to be pressed add returned before 11 am the next day. This wasnt possible but they could loan an ironing board and iron. In room TV was set up for Chinese language rather than English.

Not really 5*

Room Tip: Park view is better than city view

Dear Mr. Steeltrader_Max,

Warmest Greetings from San Want Residences Taipei!
Thank you greatly for you to have chosen to stay at San Want Residences Taipei. We also deeply feel grateful for your continuous passion and support for over the four years from our opening. Regarding to your previous stay earlier, we deeply regret that the hotel staff have not provided you with a perfect staying experience.

The hotel management team has again reexamined our service procedures on your stay, and we have judged that it was from a new front desk colleague that served you not to your satisfaction. The lack of experience and education from our hotel staff is our responsibility and we would like to deeply apologize with regards to this matter. We have also immediately enhanced our staff education and requested our hotel manager to be on site for immediate guidance and support. Making sure that our staying guests could be very well-served from our warm hearts as always.

Regarding to your concern on our ironing services, our collaborated laundry standard collection time is on 12 noon and the delivers back on the next day evening. We have further examined your needs to search for better solutions to provide you, our distinguished guest to again be touched by our service. We will continuously do our best to provide high quality service to all our guests.

We truthfully appreciate your comments shared and thank you again for your kindness and support. San Want Residences Taipei very much looking forward to the next opportunity to see you in the near future!

Sincerely Yours,
San Want Residences Taipei

If you need to wind down from the huzzle and buzzle of the very busy streets of Taipei, than there is no better place than the San Want Resisences Hotel in Taipei. The Boutique Hotel is very centrally located in the Middle of the the City, yet the

Great check-in process. Nice room. We wanted the room to be cooler, which despite setting the temp at 16, the room temperature stayed at 22, so they provided us, within minutes with an electric fan.
Breakfast had a good selection of Western and Asian food, with whole breakfast ham available everyday.
Biscuits, ice tea were provided all day long in the reading room.
Located within 10mins walk from MRT of the blue and red line, we also used the buses which were more closely located.

This is a very decent hotel, but there is nothing special about it. Rooms are functional and well maintained, but a bit on the small side. It has all the equipment you would expect (TV, mini bar, safety box etc.), but no "extras" (like iPod docking, DVD player or coffee maker). Bathroom is Japanese style. Reception staff is welcoming and helpful. Breakfeast is good, in particular the Asian (Chinese and Japanese) options.
Location is very good with many sights within walking distance and a subway station nearby.

The San Want Residences is walking distance of a lot of different attractions in Taipei, however the minute you walk in the door there is an air of tranquility.

All of the staff I had dealings with were always pleasant. Not another faceless chain hotel.

The breakfast is a mix of western and asian foods. Not the greatest selection for vegetarians.

The room I stayed in was overlooking the park. Despite being at the intersection of two fairly major roads the room was very quiet.

I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Get a park facing room relatively high up - you can see the hills in the distance.

San Want Residences is a very lovely and well-appointed hotel, with a staff that provides above-and-beyond service. For example, during my stay, we were booked to spend 2 days at the Silks Place Taroko hotel in Taroko Gorge. On the evening before we were scheduled to take the train to Hualien, I asked the front desk of SWR if they would mind calling and checking why Silks Place hadn't sent me an email confirming that they would pick us up at Hualien. Thank goodness that I did, and thank goodness that SWR did not hesitate to help me make this call, because it turns out that Silks Place Taroko had (without telling me) had cancelled out reservation because rains and landslides had closed the roads to the Silks Place Taroko. And then SWR staff spent a solid hour working with me to find me a place to stay during these 2 days in Taipei (the SWR was booked, but they organized an alternative stay at a sister hotel - thank you to whatever traveler cancelled the next morning allowing me to stay at SWR). SWR also helped us figure out how to get a refund for our train ticket. SWR didn't need to help on an issue like this that wasn't their fault - they were absolutely brilliant - and the rest of my stay was great in all ways. Thank you SWR!!

Room Tip: SWR has suite rooms that are larger and have a somewhat separate living area. However I found the s...

This place is a beautifully decorated and equipped. And all the little extras the hotel provides really made it feel luxurious. The rooms generously sized and nicely furnished. The staff is well-trained and you can tell that they are willing to go the extra mile for guests. We would absolutely recommend this place and will definitely stay there again.
