This is a 5 star property in central tainan situated across the university campus. The place is huge, the rooms are practical, business like. We found the carpets were well used, did not make an impression of being clean, also the curtains have seen the dry cleaning a couple of years ago. The glass table in the room was not properly cleaned and also the glass shelves in the bathroom stayed dusty during our stay.We have booked an exta bed, the cost for it we found high- for a 7 yrs old kid of euro 50 per night. There is really nothing special about this hotel - no WOW effect. With one exception - the fantastic breakfast buffet with soups, dim sums, udon, home made croissants etc, unfortunately opened until 10 am ( quite annoying when you are on holiday and have to get up to run for breakfast). The area around the hotel has a great night market with all these never ending food stalls (we loved this in taiwan) !

We stayed on the 25th floor in an executive floor room and everything was just excellent. The staff are very friendly and speak English clearly and fluently (not to be taken for granted in Taiwan) . Breakfast at the club lounge was calm and civilized with a half buffet. The food was a mix of western standards and chinese style with a few Tainan specific dishes such as milk fish congee, beef soup noodles and squid noodles. The room was large and comfortable and on clear days we could see right across Tainan City. Unfortunately it was too cold to swim and we did not have time to try their other restaurants. The only negative was that the hotel shares a parking lot with the department store next door so if you are driving to the hotel it could be difficult to find parking on weekends.

Booked directly with the hotel for one night. Enjoyed the room and the property. Great staff as with all the people in taiwan, friendly and eager to help.
We were on the 14 th floor, enjoyed large room and awesome bathroom with big shower and tub.
The only negative comment I can make was in regards to the restaurant and the smallest pour of wine in the world!
The location is mostly central, we used taxis to get to the major site areas and did a lot of walking. Side bar, the high speed rail train is not in the city center so be prepared for a taxi ride, didn't use the public transport. Enjoy!

On our round-Taiwan trip we stopped for 1 night in this hotel and i must confess we did not feel like leaving...

Location is great since it is connected to the Train Station... the hotel was built many years ago but somehow still looks contemporary and the premises are in pristine condition... Rates through their website were extremely competitive...

I have stayed in plenty of luxury hotels but this was by far one of the biggest rooms ever... room was just huge, comfortable, classy, elegant and homey... with a big closet, enough areas for the luggage, oversized working area, separate seating area and one of the biggest and most comfortable beds ever... the bathroom delivers the whole spa experience, with an oversize bathtub and separate shower stall... we also had food in the restaurants and both breakfast and dinner buffets are just amazing!... service is excelent during check-in, check-out and concierge... i also used the fitness facilities and the gym is top of the line, with a great sauna area as well...

Overall, a fantastic experience... this was my first Shangri-La adventure and for sure not the last one...

It's an oasis in the city. Very efficiently-run and yet personable. The hotel is just behind the train station, and next to one of the nicest malls in the city. It's in the university area - a much more organised part of the city, and yet as most public transport would pass by the train station, it's easy to get to anywhere. In any case, Tainan is a small city that is easy to navigate.

We stayed a total of 5 nights at the Shangri-La in Tainan and only have positive comments. The staff were always friendly and tried to be of assistance whenever possible. The rooms were well maintained and comfortable with great amenities. The location is also ideal, as it is right next to a mall, the train station, and a short walk to other malls and lots of local eateries. We really enjoyed our stay and will be sure to book this hotel again the next time we are in Tainan.

Room Tip: You will get a great view of the city from the higher floors as Tainan does not have many buildings...

This is our second time staying at this hotel. From the minute we walked into the hotel we were wowed by the decor and the service. From the door man to the concierge desk it was obvious these people are very proud of their hotel and they enjoy working there. The downside to staying at this hotel is that it is a little bit of a walk to the historical sites. But if you don't mind walking this hotel is awesome.

The rooms are decent . I wish the decor was more consistent. Last time we had gotten a room with glass shower stall which was nice but this time we got a shower with a seemingly cheap shower curtain that does not prevent water to splash out of the stall.

Besides the problem with the shower our whole experience here at the hotel has been great! The food at the breakfast buffet is delicious and the servers are very courteous.

We would definitely stay here again.
