“hands on experiences”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2013

Chitwan ( Supana Lodge) provided a great range of experiences for me. The canoe journey up river was fantastic, knowledgable guide, yes crocodiles but that is why i came!! dugout traditional canoe what more would i ask for. peaceful and serene.
tracked rhino , but alas did not see one did see plenty birdlife, wild boar, deer etc. myself, guide and assistant. i felt totally confident in these men, felt safe and thoroughly enjoyed the morning.
Afternoon i had the pleasure of washing and elephant ( and the elephant washed me!!)

“Warning”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 12, 2013

The canoes used for the river excursion are unstable and very uncomfortable. We saw 15-20 crocodiles during the canoe ride so it was far from relaxing. Our personal tour guide (not the Chitwan guide) told us his canoe had been attacked in his last ride and he would not go with us. Once on land, we were told that a rhino had killed a guide last month when it charged a group of tourists. The Chitwan guide also told us that the park had rouge elephants that had charged and killed people in the past. We saw a rhino but it was eating peacefully. However, our group was charged by a young, male elephant. Nobody got hurt during our excursion, but you should be forewarned that this trip is potentially dangerous. The guides have only a stick with them and your are told to hide behind a tree if your are charged. Finally, the hour-long trip back to the starting point is long and arduous. Wear pants because the brush is thick.

“Adventure”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2013

I had a great time on the dugout boat. It is not the most stable but that just makes it more fun. We saw lots of birds, croc's and a rhino that was blocking our way. We had to get off the boat and travel along the bank. That shortened our ride but it was still all good. When I went to the elephant bath, I thought I was going to help give the elephants a bath. I didn't realize that I was going to get drenched by the elephant!!! Best photo ever!!!!
