“Tourist Trap in Pokhara!”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

We have seen rivers and falls more impressive than Devi's Falls and those were just in the local villages and not even touristic. (We are Asians!) There is nothing extraordinary about this.

This is definitely a tourist trap in our book. Even the kids were not impressed.

“See Devi's Falls if you haven't seen waterfalls previously”
Reviewed October 25, 2013

Devi's Falls are interesting if you haven't seen waterfalls before, but you have to fight not to say "ho hum" if you have viewed the beautiful waterfalls in Yosemite National Park or Niagara Falls. These are smallish falls, named after a Swiss woman who in 1961 fell into the river and apparently washed over the falls and was killed. There is nothing special about the surrounding viewing area.
The nearby cave is a separate attraction across the street (with a separate entry fee) that I would not recommend unless you have an 8-year old boy full of energy or you are a 20-something trekker. The cave is very dark, hot, humid, drippy, and muddy with hundreds of stairs, long lines of people, and places where you have to climb bent over with the muddy water still dripping on you. There is a view of the backside of the falls when you get to the bottom, but then you have to climb back up the stairs. We went here our first day in Pokhara and really felt the altitude.

“nice place, lack of maintenance :(”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

it used to be a wonderful place when I use to visit Pokhara as a kid.. there were no bars, it was scary & still is in monsoon!! There is a cave opposite to Devi's fall & u can see the other side of the fall from inside the cave and that is really amazing.. the force of river has crafted caves, nature can be really scary.. Devi's fall from inside the cave is beautiful yet really scary.. It reminds you never to underestimate nature :)
