“A view to die for”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

This lodge is really beautiful. It is wonderfully located and the view is breathtaking. The food was excellent, staff extremely helpful and the accommodation extremely comfortable. The Internet was available albeit a bit slow.

Hot water bottles were placed in the beds which was a really nice gesture. It would have been nice if Tea and coffee making facilities were available in the room but it was always available at the main building.

My room was a reasonable walk away from the main building and although torches were provided Dd find it a bit spooky walking in the dark on my own particularly when there was talk of a leopard in the area.

Room Tip: Room 8 does have a good view of the mountains, being slightly higher than the room I was in.

Dear jacqui2502,

Thank you for your lovely review - as you note, all rooms have some mountain view but the higher ones, inevitably, have slightly more range. We do not have tea making in the rooms due to limited power - endless load shedding power cuts are a feature of life in Nepal. But the room stewards will bring tea, coffee, hot chocolate or herbal infusions to your room at any time. I am sorry you found it a little spooky heading to your room of any evening - our motto is "just ask" and a steward or other member of staff would have happily escorted your to your room. We do spot the occasional leopard but they tend to avoid humans.

Do come and visit again and perhaps explore some other parts of Nepal - for exmple our sister lodge, Tiger Tops Karnali Lodge in remote Bardia National Park.

With best wishes from us all,

Marcus, Lalu, Gyan, Dol Raj, Jhalak, Ishwar

We have a 1 year old and are working in Nepal for 6 months. This is a memorable place to stay with outstanding management and service. The Nepali food served at the lunch hour is the best I've had in Nepal with variety. Our breakfasts and dinners were excellent as well. The architecture is beautiful with hand cut stones, exposed timbers, and slate roofs. The mountain views from the main terrace and infinity pool are spectacular. With a baby we have been largely doing lots of day treks this time around in Nepal - the 5 hour ridgeline day trek we did from the resort was the most varied and beautiful I have done the last 4 months here (have been on the Annapurna Circuit previously). We were close to Pokhara yet seemingly so far away. The trek took us on tidy trails, through forest, and through the fields and farmhouses. The rice and millet were golden brown and the harvest was just beginning with a spectacular view of the Annapurna Range for a back drop. We ran out of diapers and the staff picked up some for us when they were in town. They also made baby food for us. Beds turned down while you are at dinner. If you are looking for a special stay near Pokhara this is it. Not cheap, but not overpriced.

Dear Ryan_r,

Thank you for your kind words - yes, we make a great alternate to the bustle of Lakeside with its "Thamel-on-Sea" conglomeration of restaurants, bars, lodges, shops, etc. Ideal for those wishing to enjoy a rural setting with great views, good service and personal attention, yet close enough to drive into town for a change of pace or atmosphere. Our range of wlaks can focus on local communities, birds, flora or jsut plain excercise!

We love having families to stay and hope your little son may retain some memories of Boss and playing around up here!

Best wishes from all the team,

Marcus, Gyan, Lalu, Ishwar, Jhalak, Dol Raj

My wife and I arrived at Tiger mountain after a stunning trek albeit sore legs. The welcome we received from Marcus and his team was outstanding and and set the tone for our 3 night stay. Our lodge was No 12 which was furnished and equipped to a very high standard, you dont need a kettle because tea and coffee is brought to you as requested, and with a smile. All the lodges are individually placed in order to ensure stunning views of Pokhara and the Anarpurna mountain range. We had lots of opportunities to take part in the many activities provided but chose to remain by the pool (What a pool and what a view).

Internet: Try and stick to the policy of not using the internet whilst in Tiger mountain. I did and was so grateful to leave the rest of the world at the main gate.

A few days before arriving at Tiger Mountain we had celebrated our silver wedding anniversary in Katmandu, somehow the staff had got to know and we were both so grateful for the generosity shown towards us.

If you are traveling to Nepal, this is the TIGER Lodge that you need to visit!

Thank you for an amazing stay.

Nick and Alison

Dear Nick8714,

Thank you both for your kind words and great review. Sore legs are eased at Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge!

Hear, hear to your remarks about the internet - there have to be some places where one can escape the tyranny of email and facebook, etc! That notwithstanding, we have some wi-fi facility for those who would be too traumatised to be un-linked, even for a day or two!

Congratulations again on your Silver Wedding anniversary - a fine achievment. It is our pleasure to share these moments and enjoy them with you.

Many thnaks again and all good wishes from the team,

Marcus, Jhalak, Lalu, Gyan, Ishwar, and Dol Raj

Everything at Tiger Mountain seems planned to the finest detail. The accommodation is both unusual and extremely well laid out. The cabins are self contained and you can feel that you have the place to yourself almost. The Lodge is not only in a stunning spot with amazing views across to the Annapurnas, but also the hospitality is second to none with Marcus and his staff cheerfully looking after you, again with that exceptional attention to detail. I have no hesitation at all recommending TMPL as an excellent spot to unwind and enjoy a different style of hospitality.

We were a group of 6 staying here for 2 nights travelling on the 1st Class Tour of Nepal run by Mountain Kingdoms.
Well I think it has all been said - it's a wonderful place and the team that Marcus has will do anything to make your stay memorable. Nothing is too much trouble for them - our cottage was down 120 steps which I found a little difficult so we were moved to another nearer the main area.
I can only echo other visitors' comments :- 10/10 Marcus!
P.S. Marcus - I think my Irish sister-in law is in Dingle by now chatting to your sister!

Dear Elissel,

Cead Mile Failte! It is a small world from Nepal's Himalayas to the far South-west of Ireland! Thank you for your kind words - I am so blessed with the great team led by Jhalak and Dol Raj out front and Ishwar, Lalu and Gyan behind the scenes. They, in turn, lead a great crew. It was such fun meeting you and your fellow travellers - Mountain Kingdoms are great suporters and lay on a truly First Class Tour - with a little help from us all, this end!

Come back with the Castlegregory Team next time!

Best wishes,

Marcus, Ishwar, Jhalak, Dol Raj, Gyan and Lalu.

From the moment we arrived I knew we were somewhere special. The setting is amazing, even when the mountains weren't "out" ( visible without cloud cover). The accommodation is sympathetically built to fit in with the surroundings: each room/cabin has beautiful views of the mountains whilst feeling secluded and not overlooked by any other rooms. But for me the best bit was the service, just impeccable, catering to our every need (& some needs we didn't even know we had!) From 'bed tea' i.e. tea/coffee brought to your room to wake you up - really early if the mountains are 'out' so you can enjoy the sunrise, or later if not, to tea and cake appearing whenever you sit down for a rest, or drinks appearing poolside. The food, which is included in the cost, is incredible. All prepared from scratch on site, much of it sourced locally, every whim catered for. I could go on.......
Thank you to Marcus and staff for a truly fantastic experience.

Room Tip: All have mountain views but let them know in advance if you have mobility issues.

Thank you, on behalf of all the team for your wonderful review. Yes, we do aim to provide maximum service and attention to all our guests as individuals. Inevitably we have the occasional slip from the high standard we strive to maintain 24/7!

Do come and visit us again nd perhaps try other areas of Nepal too?

I arrived at Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge from its sister hotel, Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge, wondering how it could match up to the experience I had there. But it was equally fabulous - if not more so. The staff were just as friendly and the food just as good. (As it is a larger hotel, there is a bit more flexibility with the choice of food). The view of the Annapurna mountains on the first morning that I stepped out onto my balcony simply took my breath away! There are more wonderful views of the mountains and of Pokhara from all around the hotel, particularly from the swimming pool. I didn't want to leave!!

Room Tip: I stayed in Room 9 (actually more of a lodge than just a room). It was quite a long walk from the m...

Dear ap2601,

Thank you for your praise - yes, Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge gives us a good run for our money and that helps keep us all on our toes. Different in style, but both offer very special and personal experiences of Nepal, in the plains and hills respectively. We do have an easier supply chain and so can be more flexible with food - our latest programme is getting underway to enhance the range and style of vegetarian melas available to our guests. A leading restauranteur from north Wales is helping us and she specialises in vegetarian and vegan food. Follow us on Facebook for more news in due course.

With all good ishes and much hoping we see you here again soon - perhaps with a visit to Tiger Tops Bardia this time?

Yours sincerely,

Marcus, Jhalak, Dol Raj and Lalu
