“Recommended relaxing, great hotel in Nepal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2012

This place is a perfect spot to enjoy some luxury while in Nepal. The setting looking over the Annapurna range is amazing. We had the most amazing massages while we stayed there and the rooms are definitely much nicer than any where else we stayed in or saw during our stay in Nepal. I think what set it above however was the amazing service we received while staying there, singly out Shiva (who looked after us at dinner) and Deepain (who helped out with a few things for us and again at another dinner there). The food at the restaurant was fantastic – while more expensive than other places, it was probably the best we had in Nepal, the Buffet was great, but the Thali and momo’s were the big winners for us.
Location wise it is only a 5min (US$2) trip by Taxi from Lakeside, so still good there.
Definitely recommend this for people looking for a relaxing, and nice hotel in Pokhara.
Note have rated this 5-star by Nepal standards, probably 4-star western standards, but still amazing.

Room Tip: I believe they all have good views of the Annapurna range, but top floor (only two floors) might be...

We stayed in 6 hotels on our tour and I consider this hotel was the best. The rooms were spacious, airy and clean. The views of the mountains were fabulous and the gardens very colourful. There was a great swimming pool and friendly staff. Food by Nepalese standards was good. What more could you ask?

Hi. I went to this resort with my better half just after marriage. the place is located amdist the rice fields and you can also see Pokhra village from your rooms which is about a kilometer away. its very quite, romantic and clean. the rooms are very comfortable, big and neat. the rooms have been given a theme of local village huts and you can see a mud texture and traditioinal nepali painting on the room walls. the lighting in the rooms are just so romantic. wonderful place to spend those special moments with your beloved. its not near pokhra lake so you need to hire a cab. the staff needs some more polish and the foos is just awesome but i would recommend to have your food out side near pokhara lake side resturants.

Room Tip: take rooms facing the small water ponds

We decided to stay and pay at what we thought was 'the best hotel' in town with our kids over New Years. And after visiting the town and seeing what else is available I think you could do better. This hotel seems to ride on the coat-tails of the Shangri-La but I don't think they are related - and if they are then I'm shocked. The rooms were uncomfortable, smelt and the bathroom was moldy. The pipe that holds the shower curtain up is not very endearing. The good things about the hotel are the open grounds for the children to run around in, the fish pond and the swings and seeing it's poor location the transport bus was also good. The unhelpful staff really kind of sealed our bad experience. Pokhara is a fantastic town and has a lot to offer so I have no doubt you kind find better at a cheaper price.

Good room, great service, good food, relaxed atmosphere, enjoyed our stay very much. It is a long walk to the main shopping area, so a taxi is the best bet.
I would stay here again if I returned to Pokhara.

The Shangri-La Village was an unexpected, and much needed oasis of calm and luxury in Pokhara after ten days hardcore trekking. Beautiful gardens with exotic plants and hamacs, an elegant swimming pool with sun loungers, fabulous views of the Annapurna range from the rooms (especially if you go for a first floor room at the back -- ask for one facing the range head on) and excellent, friendly service. Rooms are spacious, furnished with good taste, and have lovely balconies over and terraces onto the gardens. After getting ill on the trek and feeling very fragile, this was exactly what I needed, and the hotel was swift to get me a doctor and nearly every staff member seemed concerned about my well-being, even offering to pick up DVDs from friends' houses for my entertainment!
It's still not a top hotel by international standards, the food is decent but nothing to write home about, you have to pay for the wifi etc. It's also fairly expensive by Nepalese standards. But it's also pure luxury by Nepalese standards, even their tourist standards. If you need to relax, and not have to worry about hygiene standards, or deal with the usual difficulties of being in a poor, developing country (at least for a few days), then this is the place to go in Pokhara.
And if I were rating the service, I'd definitely give five stars: for the first time in Nepal, we could really communicate with the locals who all spoke excellent English, and they seemed genuinely eager to make our stay the best possible. The travel agent at the hotel even ended up accompanying us to the airport in order to make sure the airline would accept our excess baggage and not charge us (he's friends with the airline manager!).

While not up to the standards of international luxury hotels, for Pokhara (and Nepal) this is pretty sumptious. The rooms are generally very good, the gardens and environs are beautiful, and the setting is spectacular. Fantastic views of the surrounding mountains, including Fishhook, are on offer from many of the rooms. Lying in the beautiful pool and taking in the natural beauty around is worth the modest price alone. Plus a great breakfast spread. It's a bit out of town, but an easy walk in - or you can get a cab.
