I was impressed with the Parahawking/Maya Devi team. While I was in Pokhara I was persuaded to overcome my apprehension and try parahawking.... paragliding with an Egyptian vulture. I am so pleased I did. Following the drive up to Sarangkot, I was given a thorough briefing so I knew exactly what to expect. After take-off - which did get my adrenalin pumping - the experience was gloriously peaceful with wonderful views of Lake Fewa and the mountains. Interacting with a wild bird in the air was very special. After landing we were introduced to Maya Devi's birds and learned about the vulture crisis in Asia and the importance of conserving "nature's vacuum cleaners". I left better informed, and with a disc of photographs and a video of an unforgettable experience in Nepal.
