The Peace Dragon Lodge in Pokhara is a delght. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean, plenty of hot water and a very good restaurant. The best we found in Nepal.

Room Tip: All rooms are good but the views from the rooms overlooking the lake are special.

We were lucky in having incredible weather, blue cloudless skies and full moon at night.
All in our party of five arose early to watch the sunrise on the Annapurna range.
The hotel itself is a bit quirky, and thats its charm.
The food was good, if a little erratic. The rooms were delightful, clean and quiet.
Juliette, the proprietor was charming and helpful. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We will be coming back!

What I valued the most about this hotel, is that it is unlike any other in Pokhara. For the few days I stayed at Peace Dragon Lodge, I felt very much removed from the hustle-and-bustle of the tourist centre. I awoke to the most spectacular views of the Annapurna's and Phewa Lake. This is why I came to Nepal.... to experience peace, nature - and to try and not feel so much like a "tourist". In the evenings, the sound of the crickets was deafening - so different from the motorcycles I would hear zooming when I stayed in downtown Pokhara.

My room was clean and bright, and the staff were incredibly friendly. There were a couple of items on the menu that they ran out of - but don't forget, Peace Dragon Lodge sits atop a mountain - it is not easy for the staff to nip out and collect ingredients they are short on! In my opinion - I was happy to sacrifice the "niceties" of staying downtown [easy to locate hotel, flowing wine] - in exchange for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sleep on a mountain, next to a Buddhist Stupa...

If you want to truly experience Pokhara, I would highly recommend staying at Peace Dragon Lodge for a night or two - it is unlike any other hotel in the area.

Room Tip: Once side of the lodge overlooks the lake and Annapurnas. The other side overlooks the villages and...

This charming 'boutique' bed and breakfast style lodge is set in the most awesome location imaginable. An hours walk through the jungle from Pokhara (or a jeep/taxi ride up the back road) is rewarded with amazing views of Pokhara, Phewa lake and the magestic Annapurna range. I laughed reading a previous review complaining about the unrealiabitiy of hot water and apparent 'negotiations' in arriving at a nightly tarriff. Keep things in perspective - westerners need to appreciate that Nepal is a third world country with a struggling economy and that the Nepali are a most laid back but friendly people. For the record, the water is sola heated - it is dependant on sunshine hours which usually means it is in abundance (but like sunshine, not always 100% predictable). As for price, if this identical lodge were in a developed country, you be paying upwards of $150 per night, not squibbling over it been $15 to $20. And nowhere in the developed world are you going to get the million dollar views and unique experiences offered in this magical location. A great place to have some quality 'time-out' after a gruelling trek or bone crunching bus trip from Kathmandu. Ideal for groups, couples or solo adventurers after a few days respite.

I agree that the location could be spectacular, however, unfortunately, for our two nights there, it was cloudy and misty - consequently giving a sombre feeling to the hotel, and, due to a reliance on solar power - no HOT WATER - which is very important when you come back from a 4-day trek, looking forward to a little luxury ! The rooms were small, barely enough room to "swing a cat". The food was - at best, amusing, extremely haphazard, and not in any particular order - i.e. starter, desert, main course! One main course was - Chicken Satay - which consisted of chicken nuggets - smeared with peanut butter. The choice of wine - no choice - we were told the last guests had drunk 3 bottles! consequently - there was only 3/4 of a bottle left! The menu promised much - but the kitchen could obviously not cope, with the number of guests.
Having said all of this - the proprietor - Juliette, who was very friendly, did try hard to overcome the difficulties, and a hot water supply was rigged up in one room - for us all to use on the 2nd day. Our friends who followed us there - loved it - but they had glorious weather, views and hot water - "nuf said".
For anyone trying to find this hotel - there did not appear to be any signage. By the way - there are no roads to the hotel - the last part is on foot. The hotel is well placed for the Peace Pagoda Temple

Room Tip: Rooms on the left, and high up would have a fabulous view of the Annapurnas over the lake.

I stayed here last October (2010) for four nights and it was a fantastic experience.. the location is amazing - be prepared to walk half an hour down to road but to me, this made it all the more beautiful and so quiet and peaceful.. the staff were very nice and met me at the airport and drove me back four days later.. the rooms are simple but lovely and beautifully clean!!! (so nice after treking for the two weeks previous) plus the views were amazing - in my room you could just lie in bed and see the mountains all around!!!
There was hot water sometimes but when there wasnt it didnt matter as the weather was so hot anyway!!
the owners were very nice and accomodating and I particularly remember Julia, who was very kind and helpful. Have a good book to read and its a great place to just sit and watch the view, get your thoughts together and just be happy...
I cant recomend this place enough, I hope to go back one day and experience it all again, Kim (Sydney, australia)

Thank you for your lovely report Kim. I am delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay with us so much. You'll be interested to know that soon after your visit late last year, we doubled our number of solar water-heating panels, so hot water should now flow all the time, not just 'sometimes'! We hope you'll visit again some day.
