“Need a smiling face”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

Cozy hotel, tucked right infront of the Phewa lake. Close to eateries & shopping area. They serve HALAL food, but u must enquire every dish.
Part of the property is undergoing construction of another block. That may cause some inconvenience.
It would ve nice if they had a cultural show presentation. The kitchen staff & waiters were very helpful. BRAVO. Unfortunately, the same cant be said about the pretty faces at the reception. U dont need a pretty face to smile & greet the tourist. Major disaster!!!

We had been given one night stay in this resort though initial plan was two and thanks to some misunderstanding, the front desk insisted us to check out on the second day. Poor communication given which they should inform us earlier during breakfast time, not when we were ready for our day tour. Room was spacious, clean, with hot water, good mattresses, WIFI and the ambience around the hotel is nice. A swimming pool also is good to be added somewhere. The view from the balcony was superb which facing the Fishtail Mountain of Annapurna. Food during breakfast has many selection. However this resort needs more rooms as guest may want to book the room longer, and construction next block may look uninviting due to masses of building materials, workers and noises. Recommend to book this hotel if the new block is ready for occupation, otherwise, the sight from the balcony facing the new block is not something you may look for.

We had one night in Pokhara, Nepal between trekking and flights back to the USA. This was our third time to Pokhara and we were not looking forward to another night in a disappointing hotel. Our operator chose the Mount Kailash Resort and we were extremely pleased. [Our first stay was at the fishtail which we found too tired and too primitive, especially for the price. The second time was in a new property a block from Lakeside street. The second property was noisy, smelly, and suffered from many small construction defects].

The Mount Kailash Resort was clean, modern, and quiet. It was conveniently located to both the airport and the Lakeside Tourist section where one has a wide range of restaurants. From the inner courtyard there is a nice view of Fishtail and Annapurna III. One enters the room from the hotel’s interior courtyard by a sliding glass door. There is a small outdoor sitting area by this entry portal. Our room was pleasantly decorated and generous in size which made re-organizing our gear a simple activity. There were two beds, a double and a single; large TV [tube type], desk area with chair, dresser-wardrobe combination, tile floor, drapes, and wall decoration. There was no musty smell, no sewer gas odor, no observable mold, no cobwebs, no dust.

The bathroom was modern and clean. Mount Kailash’s intended client is obviously the western tourist, so of course the toilet was western. The shower was in a separate alcove and a shower curtain was provided; as a result the bathroom floor did not get wet. The hot water was quick, warm, and plentiful. Toilet paper and soap were provided. If the simple mention of these characteristics comes as a surprise to the reader, then the reader has not experienced the typical rural Nepal and/or non-business class hotel in Nepal.

The negatives we noticed about Mount Kailash Hotel were rather minor. The wifi was not very quick. The beds were rather hard when measured against western standards. And breakfast did not measure up to other aspects of the property.

We did not have much opportunity to assess the staff’s understanding of English. Where we did, the results were not good. We had no interaction with the front desk. There was some mix-up of breakfast orders. And in their zeal to help, they grabbed our luggage from us without communicating and put it in with a different tour.

We stayed there one night before going to the trek and wanted to return there after the trek, but it was fully booked.
The price was high for Pokhara ($85 for double), but the room was large, clean with hot water, good A/C and good Wi-Fi. The price includes breakfast which not very tasty (but perfectly healthy).
The stuff was very friendly and helpful, they let us keep the things there for our eight days trek.
They have a very good agency nearby.
There was some construction activity near the hotel, but they stop at darkness so it was not really a nuisance for us.

Room Tip: See whats going with this construction activity

We stayed at Mount kailash Resort before and after the trek to Annapurna. We spend 4 nights in total and we had no problem there. We stayed at budget hotel in kathmandu so standard of Mount kailash Resort we quite high for us. The room was big one with very good Bed. Hot water was there all the time. All the staffs were very friendly and helpful to us all the time.

We think they need to improve on quality of breakfast. Rest everything was perfect.

It was raining constantly when we got to pokhara. This hotel is one of the best 3 stars we have stayed. Clean and spacious room. Nice balcony that could see mountains on very clear weather. Breakfast was very average. Suppose to have wifi in rooms but couldn't detect much. Nice eatery all around the hotels. Lake very close by. Good hotel to stay.

This hotel was booked by our travel agent, so was a bit of a shot in the dark. It turned out to be a perfectly acceptable base for our stay in Pokhara. Situated at one end of the main street in Pokhara its a bit of a walk to get into the centre of things - but nothing major. Rooms are of a good size, clean and the breakfast buffet was pretty good. However the hotel lacked much of an atmosphere and there are definitely better spas in town than the one in the hotel. We ended up using the pool and spa at the Temple Tree hotel.
