Beautiful views and quieter than fewa lake. It is about half an hour by taxi from Lakeside and you will have to get a taxi that is happy to wait for you and take you back - our taxi driver invited himself along on the boat ride, but at least he wasn't going to leave without us!

Well its a lake that lies same 13 km away from lakeside, the water of this lake seems much clear than that of fewa lake but here its nothing to do except from boating. I took taxi from here to there and its worthless. It seems dating sport for young couple. For us its total waste of time and money..

I went to Begnas lake by Taxi, not knowing exactly were it was. It actually is very simple: Take the (only) road to Kathmandu and go straight until you reach a village called Lakepur, turn right as soon as you can, and you cannot miss it: The lake is huge. Very different from Phewa lake, the one in Pokhara. It's shape is more complicated (a bit like a bat) and it is a lot more quiet and peacefull. i was actually very surprised to be the only tourist there. It seems to be the spot were all the locals go to. You can also rent boats there, exactly the same than on the Phewa lake, and the same price, but I enjoyed it a lot more. Less crowed, no school buses nor tourist buses anywhere to be seen, and the view of the mountain ( I've finally seen them, after waiting for two day for the clouds to disappear...worth it !) is amazing. A truly great spot for taking pictures and relax yourself.
I had a super good deal with the taxi. 900 Nrs (less than 9 €) for the round trip + one hour waiting on the spot. If you do rent a scooter though, it is better ( around 500 Nrs per day after bargain + 100 rps for gas) and so easy to find, there is no way to get lost, and it is indicated. you'll just have to pay 20 Nrs for parking if you enter the gate with the scooter (yes, the entrance is fenced cause you have to go through a Fish farm to reach the lake). Glad I went there.

The lake is much cleaner that Fewa Tal, however the banks are strewn with litter from picnicking locals and this just made me feel very sad for the place.

Given the feedback I thought this would be a pretty, secluded spot.
It was ok but personally didn't really think it was anything special. Maybe I'm spoiled by the lakes back home.
