The staff here were great, spoke fluent English, and were really helpful with everything. The hot water was plentiful and quite necessary after a long trek in the Gokyo region. My friend had a quiet room, but mine was not so quiet, but that is normal for neighborhoods in Kathmandu. The 5 minute walk to Thamel is easy even at night. Wifi worked all the time, which was rare, and the free internet on the pc's next to the lobby worked well. I paid $20 plus taxes, fees. The garden area is really nice and much larger than the other hotels' claimed gardens. This one is actually a good place to spend time reading or relaxing. Breakfast was nothing special, but ok. I chose Ganesh Himal over Potala Guesthouse which is ok too, right in Thamel, but costs a few dollars more for a similar room. My first night was in Kathmandu Prince which I didn't care for as the hot water and internet was not as reliable.

Room Tip: Bring earplugs in Kathmandu always.

This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel. I was a less impressed this time. When we arrived our reservation was not as we had requested. We had been upgraded to a suite (the most expensive room) which would be fine except we had to pay for the more expensive room. This was frustrating as we had booked on a budget. The room (701) had an overwhelming musky smell. The heater didn't work, and was not fixed for the whole week we stayed. The phone also didn't work, and was also not fixed for the whole week. This meant we were unable to contact reception/room service/make phone calls, etc.
However, the room was very nice. The hotel staff are all very nice and very helpful. The food (esp. breakfast) was really yummy and came really quickly. The hotel is also in a great spot, very close to Thamel.

I stayed here with a group of students last November. We were a large and at times very rowdy group. However the staff were extremely helpful and tolerant of our group taking over communal spaces. The surrounding area is mainly residential, meaning you are really immersed in Kathmandu daily life... Breakfast was a highlight in the garden, listening to the city wake up. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and serviced daily. Would definitely stay again.

A lovely peaceful hotel in central kathmandu. It is only 5 minutes walk from thamel but set back in a quiet lane to offer some peace and quiet. A very clean and comfortable room with a properly hot shower! Staff were incredibly helpful and accomodating since the booking was made last minute during peak season.

The staffs are friendly and very helpful with providing information. There is was guard at the gate so could feel safe and very welcomed every time when we came back. I like their comfy lobby, patio and balcony. There are a lot of noise in early morning from the backstreet, might be woken up earlier than you like.

Good budget choice for sanctuary in the craziness of Kathmandu.

The garden and balconies are a lovely place to chill.

Bring earplugs however because everywhere in Kathmandu is noisy.

Relatively clean by Nepalese standards.

Travel desk is a convenient way to work out the remainder of your trip.

Location on Thamel's doorstep.

Restaurant is fine.

The first time we stayed at this hotel we had a deluxe room for ~35 USD. Though they offer free pickup from the airport...it's not free at night. So buyer beware if you have a late flight this is a bit misleading. It was on the 5th floor so it was relatively quiet for what you are going to get in Kathmandu. The water was hot for ~10minutes and then became lukewarm for our showers (solar hot water....so an unfortunate occurrence if hotel is full and everyone wants a hot shower). The restaurant is ok...nothing special. They do have 3 computers for use in the lobby but each time we went down there to use one they were full. The rooftop is nice though as well as their garden in the back where you can eat.

The second time was at the end of our trek. We had reconfirmed before we had left to go trekking for a deluxe room again but when we arrived they said they didn't think we were coming and only had a regular room (25 USD). Not a huge deal but this one was on the 2nd floor which is directly above the kitchen...and sort of ground-level with the road....and noisy!!! The staff at the front desk didn't really seem all that knowledgeable or helpful. We found the food we had on the trek (where it has to carried in) to have been better than the food in the restaurant!

The reason I gave it only 2 stars is really in part for the second part of our trip. We got wooed into this hotel from the reviews but now I just feel like for the cost there are plenty of options out there that may be similar or better. Don't feel like this is the only hotel good enough to stay at but if you do stay here, make sure you ask for a room on the higher floors.

Room Tip: Upper floors if you must.
