Description: When the sun shines, which is often in Kathmandu, our delicious food can be served to our rooftop garden, on our upper decks and our main promenade. This provides a more casual approach to the Ship's dining experience and there are spaces for over 60 diners to enjoy the Kathmandu sunshine. Our main restaurant rooms provide comfort for all our guests in well spaced and uncluttered tables. Our menu has been designed so that all food can be prepared from fresh and delivered to the table within 30 minutes of ordering. All foods whenever possible are organically produced from local sources and will be served by young, enthusiastic and motivated people. Most are students taking their diplomas at a local Hotel Management college and it is the founders aim to help the education of the young. The Ship will assist in this education and will help promote the empowerment of women by providing a vehicle for on the job training and learning as well as providing in house development. Our emphasis will be on quality. Quality of food, quality of service and quality of surroundings, this emphasis will not be compromised. We believe that dining at 'The Ship' will be an unforgettable experience unrivalled in Kathmandu and we look forward to pushing the culinary boundaries of the dining culture within Nepal.

The restaurant located at Thamel, we didn't know that until we asked a shopkeeper, and found out it was just 5-6 mins walking distance away(we went shopping before that). The restaurant served all kinds of food, and they are amazing, we really loved it. However, since we just had lunch 3 hours before that, we asked for takeaway(for the rest of the food) and finished them at the hotel. The waiter was very friendly, helpful and considerate. We asked for vegetable soup, but clear soup instead of the original one, and he managed to help us with that(as well as the cutlery set for takeaway, and call a taxi for us at the end). He was also very worried that we were not satisfied with the food(we didn't finish) and tried his best to make us happy.

We were a large group of 21, but the staff were more than happy to set up a buffet of delicious food, all authentic Asian cuisine and for a reasonable price of 350 rupees per head. We lovd it so much we went twice

1. Offers Nepalese, Indian, Chinese, Italian and continental meals. Yes, I'm talking chicken wings, proper salads and lasagna.

2. Great food. Paneer is actual homemade cottage cheese paneer, not yak cheese (as I've had elsewhere).

3. Lots of seating options. Private cabin that can seat 10ish, dining tables to accommodate large and small parties, plus lounge and outdoor seating. (It was raining when I went so we experienced upstairs 'Cabin 2')

Other: wifi, wine list, full bar, understand English, lovely house white wine.

Cons: service took FOREVER and we had to ask multiple times for same thing. Ringing our cabin buzzer - like a flight attendant call button on plane- didn't result in anyone coming (as we were instructed to do). Glass of wine was barely 100ml. Bottles start around 2900Npr but average around 4500. (Don't forget to add 23% for taxes and tip on top of everything).

That said: food was good when it finally arrived. Highly recommend the pumpkin ginger soup - I nearly ordered a second.

Paneer was decent, chicken satay was good, salad Nicoise was big but lacked flavour... But that darn pumpkin soup rocked !!

Glad I went to check it out but I won't be going back for a second visit.
