Stayed at Blue Horizon on and off for a month whilst trekking in Nepal between November and December. An excellent value hotel. Of course it's not to the standard of a big, boutique hotel but it certainly does the job. The rooms are comfortable, the breakfast more than adequate and the staff friendly and willing to help with our often strange requests.
There are, naturally a few downsides to such a cheap hotel. We had our own, but the towels are quite small. Hot water can be sporadic depending on your room, but for the majority of our stay it was in great supply - the issue of water is a problem of the country not the hotel. Likewise with the electricity, the generator worked well.
One annoyance was the nearby Wedding reception venue, it made sleeping at night a little bit tougher. However the receptions were so fascinating that they almost added to the experience, as did the road leading into the hotel.
The location is also very nice, situated just outside of Thamel so it is within walking distance of everything. Also, it's off the main road which reduces the noise significantly, and close to a taxi "hangout" and good resteraunts, such as the Bakery Cafe and Fire and Ice. The top floor garden is a nice touch also.
Overall a great stay for the money we paid.
