We stayed there for two weeks because of health problem. The staff was very kind with us. We could borrow some books. It is located in Thamel, the touristic area of Kathamdu. This hotel has its own restaurant in a small garden. The food is good especially the breakfast set. We had a spacious room in the third floor with a small bathroom but a large bed and a living room.

We used this as our base whilst in Nepal. The staff were very accomodating in holding our excess luggage and always held a room for us upon arrival.

The food is delicious in the amazing garden which allows you to escape from the busy and at times, overwhelming streets of Kathmandu.

We had the deluxe room which was sizable and always clean. The hotel is in a great location, off the main street opposite one of the best restaurants in Kathmandu - Fhat Kath.

The staff were all too happy to help organise taxi's to and from the airport and assisted us in finding a guide for our Everest Base Camp Trek.

We booked online and thus paid an inflated price (US$20 p/night).. If you're thinking of staying here, I'd be inclined to bargain when you arrive as it seems others have stayed in a deluxe room for a much cheaper price. In saying this though, we still believe US$20 provided good value.

All in all we had a fantastic time at Hotel Florid and would highly recommend this to travellers of all types, whether you're han solo, with your partner or in a family, this is the place for you!

We used this hotel as our base during our time in Kathmandu. We came back here a couple of times after leaving Kathmandu to go elsewhere.
The biggest pluses were the hard working and friendly staff, and relaxing garden restaurant out the back, which was a wonderful place to get away from the noise and bustle of Thamel. The food was pretty good, but there are also lots of great places to eat nearby too. The rooms we stayed in were clean and reasonably sized, as were the bathrooms. The wifi worked well in the garden, and moderately well in our room.
It is a budget place (most rooms seem to be about 400-700rs), so they don't have 24 hour electricity due to Kathmandu's load shedding issues, and the hot water is solar heated, so it was usually only really hot in the afternoons. Perhaps the other downside is that the noise from the Thamel streets sometimes carried up to our room at night, but I'm sure most hotels in the area are like that.
