We took a 9 day / 8 night private tour into Tibet, organised end-to-end by Nepal Hiking Adventure Company. The guide, jeep and accommodation are all of great quality which provides you the platform to sit back and enjoy the experience.
Being organised out of Nepal, the agency will arrange a local (English speaking) Tibetan guide which brings a lot more colour and depth to the commentary. Our guide also spoke a decent level of French.
I highly recommend including Everest Base Camp into your itinerary, it is easily accessible from the Tibetan side and the view is spectacular. I would also recommend packing some altitude tablets as a precaution, if you do head up to base camp you'll be sleeping at 5200m.
We organised the itinerary in advance which meant that we could leave the day after arriving into Kathmandu. Bishnu and his team arranged all the necessary paperwork and visas with information provided over email; passports were required one day prior to the tour to process the visas.
This was a great experience. The only way to visit Tibet is through an organised tour and from extensive research Nepal Hiking Adventure Company appears to be the best value for money.
