“Clean hotel with nice staff”
Reviewed October 5, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at this hotel after our friend in the tourism industry managed to get us a special rate. This hotel is nice, very clean and the staff are friendly. I don't know that I would pay full price to stay here even though it is clean and safe.

This hotel doesnt have a fantastic good scene through windows. But the room is old but quite tidy.
Bathroom provides hot water.
The location of this hotel is quite good! I visited most landmarks from this hotel.
It provides wifi and free pickup from airport, which are very convent to me!!

If your budget is quite limited, then choose Fuji.

I stayed here for a gadventures tour for a few nights. Well located in Thamel. The room was average, spartan perhaps but clean. Breakfast was fine. I used the hotel services for a few things, including left luggage and arranging taxis. All in all I found the service polite. The Japanese owner was also around for a chat in the lobby throughout my stay. Free wifi was good. I had a balcony to my room which was nice. For the price and service the hotel is good and I would return.

after reading such good reviews, i was a bit disappointed. started off on the wrong foot at the airport when i was met with a sign (good!) and 2 people, one who was from the hotel and the other i thought was as well, so handed my bag to him as i arrived at the car. he literally only placed it in the car for me then proceeded to harass me for tips. the driver got in the car and the other man did not, at which point it dawned on me that this was some random dude. i refused at first because all he did was place the bag in the car (not even carry it from the airport) and would have expected the driver to say something to help me out but he didn't and proceeded to wait til i handed over some money which at midnight after a long flight is annoying to say the least. anyway, the hotel itself is nothing special ... basic, old. no hot water either at night when i arrived nor the morning when i woke up. unsure why it has such great reviews.... only good thing is that the tourist buses leave from not too far away.

This hotel is very basic but good value for money. The rooms were spacious and clean, good bathroom with hot water and excellent service. The location is close enough to everything but far enough off the Main Street so it was not noisey. Good, clean basic rooms, not luxury but value for money.

I arrived in Kathmandu in 2011 without a hostel or hotel booked in advance - which is rare for me - and so I walked around with luggage looking for a budget place under 20$ for a single. I'm usually pretty flexible and intended to settle for the first place, or second place if the first was a dump. As it turns out, I kept seeing dump after dump after dump.

I've traveled in poor countries before (Southeast Asia, Morocco) but have NEVER seen so many dumps in this price range.

I visited 7 hotels in my budget range (less than $20 per night for a single, in July) around Thamel:
Laughing Buddha, Moonlight Hotel (on Paknajol), Tibet Peace Guest House, Hotel Nirvana (Paknajol), Yellow House, and another couple places whose names escape me.

All of these were dumps - moldy, stained towels/sheets/walls, very iffy hot water, blood stains on sheets signalling bed bugs, etc..

The Moonlight Hotel had some decent rooms but at a slightly higher price range. I ended up spending a few nights at Moonlight Hotel in a semi-dumpy room for about $13 USD per night.

A few days into my stay in Kathamandu, as I was walking by the Fuji, I walked in to see the rooms because Lonely Planet said it had impeccable rooms due to its Japanese package tourists. To my surprise, they did indeed have some spotless rooms with bleached white sheets for about $20 a night. I can not recommend the rooms enough.

The street its on is an alley and is a bit hard to find, but a short walk away is the center of Thamel so it's all good.

I can't recommend this place enough. Try to bargain down in the off season to about $20 for a single.

Enjoy Kathamandu!

Good hotel, friendly staff, basic breakfast (choice of eggs - juice - coffee/tea - 2 slices of white toast - banana), hot water and spacious rooms. The hotel is near some nice restaurants and souvenir shops.

We stayed here our first and last day and for us it was good. Nothing special but with everything we needed.
