Overall our stay at International Guest House was very good. The room was very comfortable and equipped with water heater and heater during winter. The receptionists were helpful and friendly. We love the morning breakfast. The hotel is located nearby Thamel town, and it is just a walk away to restaurants and shopping district.

I stayed at the International Guest House for a week while visiting my daughter in Kathmandu. The hotel is on the outskirts of Thamel - easy to walk to all the touristy spots, but a little (just a little) quieter than the busy streets of Thamel. The rooms are clean and have all the necessary elements. The beds are hard, but so are all the beds in Nepal. If possible, get a room that's not on the top floor. Our first room was very noisy (although the view was great). The staff moved us down a floor, which was much better. The room includes a lovely breakfast, which you can eat outside in the beautiful courtyard. They provided an airport transfer and their staff carried our bags up the many flights of stairs to our room without complaint. I'd definitely recommend it.

My family and I had a great experience at the International Guest House. It's very central and we were able to walk everywhere. I really recommend eating the hotel's breakfast! I ate the Miso Soup or the Banana pancakes almost every single day.

This hotel is situated a little way out of all the hustle and bustle of Thamel but that makes it a better place to stay. The building is typically Nepali and the grounds are a very pleasant respite from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu. We stayed there for four nights in total but this was split up into two visits. There were six of us so this gave us a chance to sample the various rooms and each one of them was clean, comfortable and pleasant to stay in. The gardens were a perfect haven to relax after a busy day. The Management and staff were super. We had a delay coming from Pokhara because the airport was closed due to fog but the hotel car and driver waited for over four hours to pick us up, now that is customer care at its best!!! Comes highly recommended.

Building is charming but has no lift so best not to be on a level above third. Fairly quiet location
but barking dogs can be a problem at night. Very pleasant courtyard used for dining and breakfast. Worst porridge in Nepal, milky but with few oats. Rooms are adequate but do not have a fridge or tea/coffee facilites, had two different rooms both with very hard mattresses and temperamental TV's. Has large store for leaving spare luggage while trekking but staff have no idea how to locate your item amongst all the others. Reception staff helpful however retain receipts of deposit paid for accommodation on your return from trekking otherwise you will be asked to pay again, apparently they find it to hard to locate their carbon copy of the receipt. Hotel charges 10% service charge and 13% VAT on all accounts, most businesses do not charge any VAT. Free internet was very handy. Arrival pick up from airport was not a pleasant experience with driver, his helper and baggage carrier demanding a substantial tip before leaving the parking area. Taxis are plentiful and easy to use.

Room Tip: No lift so have a room no higher than third floor preferably facing the garden courtyard

The International Guest House, in spite of a bland name, combines several virtues. It's just a few minutes walk to the hustle and bustle of Thamel, but is located in a quiet area. Outside, it's anonymous, but step inside, and it has a charming Nepali character, with a lovely indoor garden where breakfast is served. There are some nice touches in wood carving and by way of decoration which makes this place a little special and adds some character.

Reception and parking area are also quite spacious by Kathmandu standards, and are bright and welcoming.

My room was large and adequate, with a clean bathroom and a view of the rooftops of Kathmandu. Came with cable TV but bathroom towels were grey with use and the carpet on the floor had seen better days. No ceiling fan although a portable unit can be requested, but it was cool and we slept well.

There's free wifi and bag lockup/deposit, and service is generally quite friendly and good. Breakfast was adequate with a choice of three sets. Excellent value for money.

Room Tip: There's no elevator, rooms on higher floors have good view but involves flights of stairs.
