After walking around the busy parts of Thamel it was great to come back and enjoy the private garden area of the International Guest House. The included breakfast was good, the Nepali tea was great, the mattress (at least in my room) was really firm, the bathrooms had a worn out look but the garden made it all worth while.

I stayed in both the new and the old wing building. The rooms in the new wing is much better. Rooms are clean, with all good facilities. The room in the old wing is quite old. So the amenities also old and out dated.
The garden restaurant is a great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. A candle light dinner in a traditional nepali environment is really a great pleasure.
It is located in a quiet place in Thamel but the center of Thamel is within 2 minutes walking.

Room Tip: Take room in the new wing.

This hotel is very attractive from the outside and has a lovely garden, where they bring breakfast. But it was overpriced for what you got and the staff was nice but unprofessional & acted like the people who run the cheaper guesthouse. Sitting on the floor behind the desk, which is common in less expensive places. You always feel like you are interrupting them--which you are--when you come by to ask a question. We've been to Kathmandu many times before and stayed in less expensive places which were on a par with the quality of this place. The main problem was it was winter and since Kathmandu does not have electricity for about 14 hrs. a day, the rooms were cold and damp. The bathrooms were way below par for the price. Damp, moldy, barely clean. Again, not unlike cheap places but this place was pretty expensive. We stayed there a week but would not stay there again. The staff was nice enough & friendly.

The guest house is conveniently located within walking distance to Thamel without the noise. Nice wood carvings. For the price, a hearty breakfast is included and so is airport pickup. Room is large and decent. Stay on the higher floors and rooftop offers a nice view of the city (don't know why they don't put a restaurant on top)

I and my wife spent three nights before our trek to Annapurna region in International Guest House. We found the personnel very friendly and knowledgeable about Kathmandu. The hotel is situated a bit outside the center of Thamel making it very peaceful. We enjoyed the breakfasts in their nice garden.
The price of the rooms is a bit expensive compared to local level but anyhow reasonable for "non backpack" traveler.
The office of Nepal Experienced Adventure Treks (NEAT) was conveniently situated at the lobby of the hotel and they helped us to arrange our trek to Poon Hill.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms with windowsw to the garden.

I stayed in a slightly pricier room after a trek ($35) and the room was quite nice, with hot water, a clean bathroom and clean sheets.

Free internet was nice, as was the free breakfast.

Probably better value elsewhere.

Compared to another cheaper guest house in Kathmandu (which is plenty), this hotel is not value for money. The room and toilet was not in a good condition and no one took care of it after the complaint. The staff is unfriendly and unhelpful. The hotel tour manager tried to deceive us to change our originated plan and use the hotel service instead which cost 10 times more expensive.
