“A good hotel with a very un-impressive approach point.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 13, 2011

On our way back from Pokhara, our tour operator arranged this hotel. The approach roads were very congested and in pretty bad shape. I am sure no tourist will be very impressed. But the area is within a market place and stones throw from eateries, travel companies and trekking companies. The Casino Malla @ Malla Hotel is a 2 minutes drive. When you enter the hotel, it is completely different. The hotel has a very antique look. The doors are wooden curved. The Reception is huge and has a cosy feeling. The dining hall is on the ground floor and is very spacious and international standard. The rooms are cosy but couple of lights were not working. The service boys were very prompt and friendly....they immediately fixed it. There was no problem with hot water, as it was readily available from the central Gizzer.
The breakfast was quite good, with a equal balance of meat, fruits and breads. I was very impressed overall.

Room Tip: Couldnt explore in and around the hotel much, but think that the roadside rooms would be best. It is...

I stayed here for 2 nights in October at the beginning of an Intrepid trip through Nepal and India. This was the joining hotel and in a great location for both shopping in the Thamel district as well as Durbar Square both within a 10min walk.

There were problems when I arrived as they didn't seem to have a note of my booking (this could have been a issue with Intrepid themselves as opposed to the hotel) but the staff continued to search through their paperwork and eventually I was given a room. The room was fine, a twin (I have heard that double beds are a rarity in Nepal). The bathroom had everything I needed, they even provided fresh, clean towels.

The hotel staff are very attentive, especially if you spent a relaxing afternoon in the hotel garden. I didn't eat in the hotel restaurant mainly due to there being lots of other gorgeous eateries a stones throw away but it looked clean and well staffed.

The hotel was overall very good. A couple of negative points was the room was quite musty smelling and a good air out/washing the curtains would have made the smell more pleasant. We had to request to get the hot water turned on which isnt a huge deal as it took about 5-10 minutes for this to come through. The restaurant had lovely food, but service is slow at times - paying the bill was a bit of a long process. Overall, they stay was pleasant enough.

I stayed at the hotel in Nov-Dec of 2003, before and after numerous trekking adventures throughout Nepal. It was nice to have a hot shower and clean room to come back to. The food in the restaurant is great, especially the tandoor chicken! The location is not directly in the Thamil (tourist) district but is literally a 5 minute walk away. Internet cafes are a few doors down from the hotel and the private garden is beautiful.

We stayed in the Harati Hotel in October 2000. The hotel was good and rooms were nice. But your best of if you have a room at the backside of the hotel with a view of the beautiful garden! The front (street)side can be rather noisy.
