The timeless ritual of farewell, ashes to ashes and return to the waters of life. Take the time to watch and reflect......

This was the most different experience we had while in Nepal. The customs are very different from those in the west. The complex itself is massive and very ornate. You'll note that many locals hang out here to see how cremations are done, since not all places in Nepal cremate. It was at times sacred, profane and sublime! Don't miss it.

I wish I had planned more time for the visit as watching a Hindu funeral in progress was a touching experience. There was so much happening and there was so much to see around the temple we wished we had scheduled a lot more time for our visit. There is the official tourist office opposite the home for the elderly so be sure you book a guide from them.

Very interesting visit, and informational. A local tour guide gave us the historical background and insight in the rituals, and found it to be quite educational. The overall grounds are impressive, as are the temples. The hillside is a great place to lounge, and though it's a bit awkward being among those dealing with such grief, it is also very important to understanding parts of their religion and culture. Very, very important and historical place.

it is a functioning crematorium with families mourning recent past family members. It felt odd going to see a cremation with crying families and having it treated like a show with people taking pictures.

i was uncomfortable there and did not stay long.
