We ordered grilled fish being afraid of having sushi so far from the sea... Fish was just great as well as sushi and sashimi that our friends had:-) Fully recommended!

My wife and I live in Kathmandu and have tried a number of the local sushi restaurants and have come to the conclusion that Mako’s is hard to beat.

Several days before a recent holiday evening, we made dinner reservations at Mako’s. It was to be our fourth or fifth dinner at Mako’s and we were really looking forward to the evening. Our reservations were for 7:00 PM. We arrived shortly thereafter and were shown to good table reserved in a quiet corner of the restaurant. The wait staff greeted us warmly and quickly served us a complementary appetizer. When I told the waiter we needed a few more minutes to make our menu decision, he retired to a respectful distance and patiently, but observantly waited while we made up our minds. When we were ready, all I had to do was look up and the waiter immediately returned to the table to take our order.

After a wait that was just long enough to have a few sips of sake and a pleasant conversation, the sashimi platter we ordered arrived. The presentation was pleasant and the 15 cuts were ample. As we enjoyed this tasty meal, the wait staff took up position across the dining room and unobtrusively waited to anticipate our next request. Moments after the sashimi platter was finished, it was whisked away and the spicy tuna roll we ordered delivered. Like the sashimi platter the tuna roll was cool and tasty.

All in all, our dinner was delicious and enjoyable. When it comes to sushi in Kathmandu, the beautiful surroundings of Dwarika’s, tasty food and attentive service make Mako’s hard to beat.
