The Cookie Walla Cafe is located in the thamel, hard to find so ask around. The place it self is really small. It's actually a stairs room.
The owner is really kind. Shakshuka is awesome and also "hello to the king". The price is cheap. Go eat there and enjoy!

So this place is a size of like a box and a half, super small. They have sandwiches, shakshuka, deserts, the guys i was with loved it, the idea of a secret place that makes yummy stuff bought them. For me this place was disgusting! On the walls there are bugs, its really not clean and looks like god knows what. If you need to know your food was made by clean people in a clean place this is not the place for you. If you want a cool experience you will laugh about then give it a try.

We first heard a rumour about this legendary hole-in-the-wall, from a fellow traveller, high on the mountains around a yak dung fire on the trek to Everest Base Camp.
"You have to find Cookie Walla.. He makes the best desserts you've ever tasted" - a fairly big call.. so we made it our mission to seek it out when we returned to civilisation.
We finally found it in a tiny alley across from H2O cafe on one of the main streets in Thamel.. It's absolutely tiny .. But the welcome was huge.. The cookie man himself holding court and entertaining the few people who could squeeze into the place.. We ordered the signature dish.. Hail to the King.. A mixture of crushed up biscuits, stir fried quickly with sliced banana, topped with ice cream, cake and chocolate sauce.. A stoner's delight, created for the Israeli crowd as the Cookie man cheekily confided. Only one in our group had it.. The other two shared some cake.
Cookie man started out selling cookies on the beach in Goa and has grown his empire to include a bar in Thamel - Full Moon Bar.
He is an absolute one off.. You HAVE to go and meet him. But a slight word of warning. Our friend who ate the main dessert came down with a pretty severe case of food poisoning the next day. I'm not saying it came from Cookie Walla.. But we were slightly alarmed when we saw him counting out quite a large amount of cash on the counter he'd been preparing the food..
But he seems to have plenty of repeat customers so perhaps our friend was just unlucky.
Definitely worth a visit.
