“Not good enough”
Reviewed October 10, 2010

Our experience was very negative in this place and too we were travel agents, lets begin we were convinced & excited to go to the place in ITB Berlin, for Kiwis in the India - Nepal tours coming from Australasia due to the conversation & presentation and future business opportunities.
So we came to see the place for ourselves first for 3 Nights and also other properties and cultural & adventure places in Nepal, So, till landing into Kathmandu was fine and then began the road to this place was so bumpy, we hit our heads on the roof 2 times, wow - then the rates that we were promised at ITB were refused as he had left, so after a little debate we were checked in, but the room was not ready as the previous group had not checked out, delayed by 2 hours, then finally we were given a room and to our surprise it was very dirty to say the least, too tired so fell asleep, decided to have a meal in the room and a further delay of 1 hour for the food to arrive and then it was lousy food ( even had a tummy ache ), went around the property to some amazing nature, flora & fauna, booked a massage at the spa and wow, why no surprises - delay n noise and rub a dub would summarize the treatment. Came back and spoke with the new general manager, who seemed most unattentive and had just joined and seemed that even after his instructions and assurance we had a repeat cycle of the same things
Only saving grace was that Sarral the manager upon hearing our predicament had some impact and little better services happened and did refund a nights stay, but by that time we had decided to move to the Shangri La
A disaster stay would be a diplomatic way to describe it and really we would not stay let alone our clients.

We stayed here for our weekend holiday. The property is situated far off from the city and is free from hustle and bustle of the city. One of the best golf clubs in Nepal and has indoor swimming pool with qualtiy spa facilites.Food was of average quality but very expensive compared to other hotels here. All an all good place to refresh and play golf in Kathmandu.

i had come to this place a year ago with my consultants firm as a group of about 20 golfers and had a truly wonderful time that trip, i mean everything from the Golf, Accommodation and Hospitality were par excellence. So this time i decided to come here with a group of friends and us 5 couples went BUT WISH THAT I HAD NOT GONE
The services have really deteriorated to say the least, the rooms we were given had construction noise during the day and monkeys running all over the roof at Night, so we could barely get sleep and then the food was below a 2 star, Shifted to Dwarikas for the remainder of the trip and had a truly great time there. Had a horrible time in Gokarna to say the least and would now rate the services closer to a 2-3 Star Property

we come every year to gokarna from the past three years as part of air arabia holidays and have always enjoyed the service and nature in Gokarna Resort, this time though we were in for a shock as the services have really taken a nose dive for the worse, to describe in our previous trips the general manager always used to chat with few of the guests and this would ensure that our small details were looked into, this time no gm and guests relations and the Staff spirit was also in the doldrums due to a clear lack of leadership and also were talking about the place being taken over by some new people

Still has spectacular nature but feel that from next year we shall be shifting to the Soltee

If you are looking for a quiet resort close to the airport then head here.

We spotted a leopard on the first night and deer on the second and were visited by lots of monkeys during lunch in the garden too!

It is a quiet, very friendly resort with a good bar and restaurant + spa + golf course.

Just a tip on the side - if you plan to do any travel/sightseeing arrangements - do NOT book them through the travel agency inside the resort! They totally overcharge! Rather contact an agent.

I went with my wife, children and friends family.
The whole ambience was superb, we just remember the good times we had there.
The spa was a treat and so was the indoor swimming pool. But the food was not good, specially for vegetarians, we just had plain rice as everything was no vegetarian. The golf course was also too good between the mountains. I recommend a 2 day visit.

Its stunning, relaxing, lovely rooms and a must do if you are not going beyond the Valley. Gokarna Forest Resort made an amazing ending to our visit. We did not have too many days to head out to Pokhara or Chitwan or other locations, so decided to head here. Great decision- lovely break from the chaos of Kathmandu. Beautiful lush green surroundings and lovely service.
