“Interesting to see”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

So different, a real cultural experience, fun to see for a short amount of time, crazy & chaotic, lots of shops & restaurants, bring earplugs for walking in the streets since horns are blowing constantly right beside you & your ears go numb, much more enjoyable with earplugs

“The HUB of Kathmandu”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

This place is the central hub of Kathmandu and heaving with tourists, shops, markets, massage places, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, money changers, internet cafes, food stores chemists, bookstores, jewellery and most of all trekking gear stores....everything a tourist could want. Just love the atmosphere.....just got to go wandering and wandering, ducking in and out of alley ways and stores. Remember...gotta bargain, it is expected.

“Great place to watch people”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

The sights alone are worth the visit to the heart of Kathmandu's tourist center. Retro Hippy, free attitudes. Just be careful of the jewelry stores as what they offer isn't always what it really is. Only in the jewelry stores have I had bad experiences. The rest of Thamel is great. Check out the roof top gardens.

“Bargain is a must!”
Reviewed May 6, 2013

This is a place where you may get all the trekking accessories, cashmere shawl and handcrafted decorated home items but bargain is a must!! The road seems like endless under construction with all the dust covering your face and cloths. Remember to wear a mask and bring torch light if you walk till late at night. There are a bars, pubs and music which for those who like to hangout before, during and after hours.
