“Homesick for good pizza and spaghetti”
Reviewed April 5, 2014

When you have had Dal Bhat for weeks, it's time to get into some familiar Flavors and foods! The roadhouse cafe that peppers the Kathmandu valley is the place to go! There's one in almost every neighborhood that tourists either reside or shop at! Their pizzas are thin crust and flavorful and their spaghetti a rival your own!

I love Nepali cuisine but it's nice to have a state of the west once in a while as a social treat!! Don't forget to order a chocolate shake or sizzling brownie topped with vanilla ice cream!!

“Great Spot for Food and WiFi in Thamel”
Reviewed March 31, 2014

I spent 16 days in the Kathmandu Valley leading a group. I took them to the Roadhouse numerous times for a lunch break and internet access so they could communicate home. Food is good, coffee is likewise. Very good service with a friendly staff.

“Excellent no frill food”
Reviewed January 27, 2014

This is one of the four chain restaurants in Kathmandu. They serve consistently good quality food. The wood fired pizzas are a must try.Their schnitzel(my son's favourite, but now referred to by another name) are also quite good.Cheese cake is avoidable.People have written about their poor service but generally we have not faced a problem. We would rate this joint much higher on service compared to their Jhamel counterpart. The best part is that they are open till 10 PM which is quite late and rare by Kathmandu standard.Parking is limited and you should be prepared to park on the road mainly which again is routine in Kathmandu. They have good sturdy package for takeaway pizza. The earthy decor of the place is well done.

“Best Italian food in Kathmandu!”
Reviewed December 11, 2013

Fabulous Italian, REAL Italian food! Their gnocchi is made from scratch, delicious sauces abound, real wood-fired pizzas, and good wine, this is THE place to eat. We dined here both before and after hiking, and it was delectable both times. There is also atmosphere, great coffee, free wifi if you order food and drink, and a wide, yummy alcoholic drink menu. Also, try the fresh lemonade, with pureèd mint leaves. Buen appetíto!

“PIZZA PLACE”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

Roadhouse Café is a staple for tourists and expats in Kathmandu. In fact, it was one of the first restaurants my wife and I ate in when we arrived in Kathmandu over a year ago. There are four Roadhouse Café locations: Thamel, Boudha, Jhamsikhel and Bhatbhateni. Roadhouse’s thing is pizza, and the pizza’s not bad. On this day, however, we only wanted a snack so we decided to split a grilled beef sandwich at the Roadhouse’s Thamel location.

We like the Roadhouse in Thamel as it has a nice outdoor seating area in a courtyard behind the restaurant. Don’t expect to bask in the local culture at Roadhouse. It is, instead, a refuge for westerners and westernophiles who want a temporary escape from the bedlam of Kathmandu’s busy streets. Ordinarily, the courtyard is a quiet place, but on this day, it was practically a party. Dozens of tourists, recently off the trail or newly arrived crowded the restaurant. Several large groups arrived and departed as we enjoyed the early October sun. Despite the crowds, everything worked well. Waiters took orders in a businesslike manner and our food arrived after a reasonable wait. One nice touch: We told the waiter we were going to share the sandwich and, instead of one sandwich cut in two, we were pleasantly surprised when the waiter delivered two small sandwiches!

If you’re hankerin' for pizza and beer, Roadhouse is a good choice. You won’t be disappointed.
