After booking our “once in a lifetime” trip to Nepal we arrived in Kathmandu and were met personally by Ngima Dorji Sherpa and taken to our hotel. He met us again the following day and discussed our trip with us in detail and made sure that we were happy with everything and were not lacking any equipment. The trip involved: sightseeing in Kathmandu, the Arun Valley Trek, white water rafting and visiting the Chitwan Jungle. The whole experience was absolutely wonderful and proved that Ngima had gone to a lot of trouble to make sure that we were totally satisfied customers, not just with the trek, which was under his control, with his staff, but also the other activities.
We were so impressed that “once in a lifetime” became “twice in a lifetime”. On this trip we did the Manaslu Circuit Trek. On both treks all the arrangements were meticulous, good quality camping equipment was used and our guides and the rest of the staff were always polite and very helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble. As for the cooks and kitchen staff: brilliant! The variety and quality of food that they produce on a pair of kerosene stoves is amazing. If you were to have an upset stomach on one of NMMT’s treks, then it would probably be your own fault, because all the food is properly cooked and the guide, cook and kitchen staff always ensure that you have plenty of safe, clean water available. Another point, that impressed us on both occasions, was that time was taken on the first day to ensure that the porters had adequate clothing, footwear etc.. If the porters and other staff have problems then that could possibly jeopardise the whole trip and ruin your experience. We certainly had happy porters and staff and enjoyed a lot of interaction with them.
Well we couldn’t leave it at two trips, so two years ago we went again, this time we went into Tibet. Again everything was excellently planned, the company that Ngima used in Tibet was first class, and Ngima personally took us to the Tibet border and met us there after our trip.
By all means have a look at other companies to see what they offer, then contact Ngima at NMMT and he will tailor make your trip for your maximum enjoyment. Wether you want to go as part of a group on a popular tea house route, or if there are only two of you wanting to do a camping trek, then he will organise it. Ngima and his staff do not take any short cuts, your safety and welfare are always very high on the agenda. Nepal is not just about trekking in the Himalayas, so if you want to do something that is not on their website, just ask and I’m sure that Ngima will arrange it, or he will have a very good reason for not doing so.

I love Nepal Myths and Mountain Trails for the exceptional care that they gave the group I was with on our trek. Ngima Dorji Sherpa and his family (his brothers also work with him) made our trip feel like we were traveling with local friends. Ngima worked magic in getting us on flights when the fog had stop flights going into Luckla- we were among the first to get in. From the moment we arrived in Kathmandu until we left at the end of the trek. We were looked after and experienced things off the beaten path that most tourists would never get to do. I cannot wait to walk the trails of Nepal or other places with Nepal Myths. Ngima is also a wonderful humanitarian - bringing extremely needed health care and education to his home village.

In 1994 I came for the first time to Nepal for a trekking. Then Ngima Dorji Sherpa was the Sirdar. This experience was the start of my love for Nepal. In the meantime I have returned many times for trekkings, climbs and expeditions. Most of the times we have been working with Ngima Dorji Sherpa who started in 2003 his own company NMMT. In 2006 he helped to organise our Dutch Dhaulagiri expedition. The last years we are working together for our project “Nepal traverse”: a trekking from triple border point in the FarWest (Tinkar La) to the triple border point in the East (Jhinsang La) of Nepal. In fact this is the Upper High Great Himalaya Trail, but even more extreme seen the start and the end. Up till now we have realised 4/5 part: from Darchula in the Far West to Tumlingtar in Makalu-area. This trek is an amazing experience. The last part (Kanchenjunga) is planned for 2013.

Ngima Dorji sherpa is an excellent organiser. We have seen sometimes unexpected things happening during our trips and then he is major in solving the situation. Further he has a very good team around him. So I can everybody recommend to work with Ngima Dorji and NMMT!"

4 trips to Nepal with Nepal Myths and Mountain Trails have all been fantastic! This is a country that lures you back again and again. The people are so warm, friendly and fun. The landscape of course is spectacular! And NMMT makes the whole experience manageable. As long as you are in good health and reasonably fit, their treks are terrific. My first was 12 days to Annapurna Sanctuary in 2003. This is a great combination of hill communities and spectacular mountains. Reasonably easy walking. My second trek was 19 days in the Everest Region in 2006, first towards Mera Peak and then up toward Everest. More demanding walking and higher altitude but the NMMT crew helped me achieve this hugely rewarding challenge. I've also done two other treks in the Everest Region with them in 2009 and 2012. I recommend this company wholeheartedly. Ngima Dorje Sherpa and his extended family are at the heart of every NMMT expedition. I guarantee you would have an unforgettable experience! Namaste!

We have used Ngima's company, Nepal Myths and Mountain Trails, for our two trips to Gokyo in 2009 and 2012, as part of the Bandaidbox Charity.

On both occasions Ngima has efficiently organised all of the logistics from pick up at the airport to camping equipment, meals and tea house accomodation and all that goes with it, in the mountains.

We have had great companionship and confidence in Lhakpa (and his team) as our trekking sirdar. Lhakpa's humble and gentle manner overlays his strength of character.

We highly recommend Nepal Myths and Mountain Trails for an authentic experience in Nepal.
