A hidden gem in KTM! It doesn't matter for breakfast, lunch or dinner, the food is fantastic! It's the only place to go to when in Kathmandu. Muk, Sunil, Phil & all the staff are not only friendly, but very helpful for anything that you need. I've being coming here for a few years and have introduced many people to the pleasures at PK! The steaks are great, burgers too. Even the vegie stuff is both aromatic and tasty! If your really good, Muk will make a special cocktail for you (it could even end up as a regular menu item!) There's always plenty to do at Phat Kath's, the interesting people around make for great conversation. The music is a good mix to chill and relax to. Start and finish a night in KTM @ Phat Kath, you don't need to go anywhere else! Crawl in for a hangover recovery in the morning - don't forget to get the bowl of fresh organic coffee! Short & sweet, my favourite place in Kathmandu!

My favourite restaurant/bar in Kathmandu. Food is always great, staff are friendly and very helpful. Best dahl bhat I have had in Nepal and western style dishes are really tasty too! Good quality food, not oily and always fresh. Good coffee too (have the coffee bowl). Nice variety in the menu and drink selections. Happy hour on cocktails, however the prices are already cheap. Value for money for sure. Really chilled place to hang out during the day, fun times of a night. Always funky music playing. Board games, shisha, books, and great conversations to be had. Really lovely outside area, cool breeze in summer, and nice afternoon sun in winter, also a fireplace. Nice mix of travellers and locals. Owners are really helpful with tips of things to do and advice about Nepal. Oh and the crepes are delicious. Great selection of food for vegos too. You will want to keep hanging out here while you are in Kathmandu and miss it when you leave! A little tricky to find (look for Thamel square sign across the road and into the walkway) but totally worth it when you do

So friendly, went there every night i was in Kathmandu. The staff are the friendliest i've seen at a restaurant. Besides that it is an awesome place the escape the craziness of Thamel.

After six months living in Kathmandu, I found this place hidden in Thamel Square (50m south of Namaste Supermarket on Ganeshman road). After one brunch here, it instantly became my favourite KTM hang out: I give the place high marks for music selection, atmosphere, totally charming staff and food miles above the quality you'd expect in Thamel.

The cliental is a mix of chatty French expats and hip locals. It's a little hard to find the place, but so worth it, because you really feel like you've escaped the tourist scene and Thamel hustle once here. The place is very chill during the day and livens up during the evening, with Friday and Saturday bringing a significant crowd.

Phat Kat is majority balcony space with a cosy, communal feeling. The inside area is a pillowed lounge with an entire wall covered by a genius local artist's mural. The menu is French serving authentic crepes, some seriously delicious 'Nepali-fusion' items and (yes, I finally found it!) a proper cup of coffee. I would suggest the Nepali galette or the stuffed chicken for something more substantive. Happy hour starts early (3pm) here which is perfect as the bar is well stocked with real Scotch and, true to its French origins, they even have Richards.
