The rooms were not clean, bed sheets didnt look like they have been changed and overall, the hotel was a let down. The only thing nice was the garden downstairs as well as the roof top garden.Electric supply was cut off for 2-3 hours daily here,so you would have to time your activities around this. The hotel was dark and had a weird spicy smell.

i'm an indian national and stayed in the Tibet Guest House for 4 nights. My boyfriend and I have found better and MUCH cleaner hotels for a lower price in Kathmandu itself. It's location and the fact that it has good coffee are the only things going for it. They charged us $60 in the old building as there was only a few rooms available the first night,' so why not extract more money from the tourists'. We got chewing tobacco red splodge stained walls and a filthy bathroom. We then shifted to the main building to a "better" room for the same price as that's what it should've cost initially. Again, itchy beds, rude unconcerned staff and an even more smelly bathroom with a cracked bathtub to drive your foot through. Very disappointed.

Room Tip: Let the hotels in Nepal realise that you are paying a pretty decent amount of money for the country...

Overall it's a pretty reasonable place to stay but a bit dingy and dark. There are stairs that lead to nowhere and rooms are on weird multi-levels nothing to worry about if your fit enough. Also an elevator.

It's clean and so is the bathroom. Water takes about 10 minutes to heat up which is pretty standard in Kathmandu.

For single occupancy it costs $16 and $20 for 2 people for the 'normal' room which is the most basic that we stayed in. It's a little expensive for what it is and you can get much better deals elsewhere but on an overall it's a decent place to stay.

Seems to be aimed at larger groups- saw lots coming and going whilst there.

This is in a perfect location in Thamel, the busy tourist district of Kathmandu - tucked away on a side street, but just a few minutes walk to the busy main streets of Thamel.

The staff are all very friendly, nice and accomodating.

The garden dining setting is really nice and the breakfast buffe is good, especially the omelette chef.

Great free wifi service, doesn't work in the Annex rooms though.

Rooms however need to be better maintained. My bathroom was very dirty (mirror, walls etc). A paint job is much needed. Balconies in the annex are very nice!

All in all I think this is a good option in Thamel and I would stay here again.

Hotel is located in a very busy area and convenient location. According to Kathmandu standard this hotel is clean and comfortable. We book a deluxe room and got upgraded to a suit. The breakfast was average, recommendation take the room without breakfast, as there are plenty for place to eat near the hotel.

The place is what you would expect. However the rooftop area seems to be off limits and what really worried me was the lack of safes they have available. The place is far from reaching capacity and I was unable to use a safe for the duration of my stay (3 days).

It is this time of year that i always recall my visit to Nepal in july-august 2003. I was traveling with my best friend who adopted a baby from a Nepali orphanage. It was my first trip to a third world country and i was suffering from culture shock in a big way. After a few days i realized i had to stop comparing the accommodaions to those we have in th united states and compare them to what else youmight find inkathmnu or more specifically Thamel.

Upon arriving we were greeted by all smiling faces, extremely kind, english speaking, truly caring. This meant so much to me. When i first saw our room i was a bit distressed. The single beds appeared to be foam atop plyood platforms but this i the basic style youll find. The room had cable tv, a seating area, and a decent bathroom. Obviously, the water is not good. You mustuse bottled watereven for brushing teeth. The shower/tub combo was very clean but the running hwater (and the towels washed in same water) have an unpleasant odor but that's something you get used to.

We ate nearly all our meals in the hotel restaurant which i found absolutelt excellent. I became sick with a bronhial infection and i swear thir chicken soup cured me.

The rooftop dining area is beautiful. I went up there with my journal to write and watchthe sunrise many times.

I plan to return to nepal next year for ythe tenth anniversary of my trip and i think i willbe a lot wiser. These are some basic things you should bringg from home if you have room: purell. A nice hand towel from home. Bar f soap from home. Bottle of spray bathroom cleaner for toilet--tends to get smelly. Pepto bismol. Miralax or dulcolax. Your own pillow (a pain to carry but worth it onplanes in hotel. ) protein bars. Bottled water is available everywhere and mstly fairly piced.

My only complaint was the window air conditioner rightnext to y bed. It was extremely humid but the ac was very old and iced up and stopped blowing.

Room service and cleaners were fantastic. They changed your money at the desk. There is a room of antequated but wirking computers for guests to use the internet. They arranged cars for us and airport transportation. I wouls estimate our weeklybill was less than $200 US.

I think of nepal every day and i treasure my memries.tibet guest house was, unquestionably, a big part of my happy memories. There is nowhere else i would stay. See you soon, god bless you, namaste.
