What else to say, it´s the location, the peacefull garden, the friendly staff, that makes me fell at home every time I have to stay at Kathmandu, at least twice a year, with 2 - 4 of our biking groups staying there as well since more than 10 years.
Just one recommendation to the owners : The most of the bathrooms need to be done up !!
Same with some of the matrasses.

This is Really a hidden Gem of the Hotels in Kathmandu , i have been able to stay here more than 20 Times as my self a Business man from the other city of the country i used this hotel frequently, it is Really a Garden Retreat on the Middle of Thamels Crowd you Wont Believe How cozy this place is But Still less than a Minute away from every thing , find a street (Their private Ally) Opposite to the Everest steak House takes about 2 minutes walk , & you will be so blessed to be on this quiet clam & friendly Hotel, Nice spacious rooms with burning hot Water nice roof top on Block A to sit on & watch the Sunset Or overlook the Swoyambhunath Temple. Beautiful Out door setting For varied Breakfast, Most important is the attitude of The Staffs & Their friendliness which i receive Each time very very attentive. All in One i would say Every One Do stay in Nirvana Garden its a Real Nirvana of THAMEL hope to stay Here again on My Next Trip to KAthmandu.

The Nirvana is situated in the middle of Thamel the tourist center of Kathmandu.
Off the main drag set in a beautiful peaceful garden ideal for relaxation the rooms are comfortable and regularly cleaned.
The staff are polite and extremely helpful. You feel at home almost immediately.
The food is excellent and very good value for money.
I have been back to Nepal many times and would not think of staying anywhere else.

I am currently staying in Nirvana Garden Hotel Thamel, Khatmandu. Before my stay, i was very curious about my stay in this hotel. But I must say what a fine resort it is!
I have been upgraded complimentary to a suite room. The service is exceptionally good. Staff is very co-operative. I can surely recommend this hotel to people travelling to Khatmandu. This is real value for money. With regards to location, the resort is ideally located right in the center of hustle and bustle of Thamel but still quiet peaceful. The only issue with Kathmandu is frequent power break downs, rest is all good.

Room Tip: Suite rooms are very good

Poor value for the money. We spent 3 nights there paying 50 USD per night. Got a pretty large room, but with terrible bathroom: the ceramic of the bathtub was broken in several points, the water was dropping out, and the curtain of the shower was extremely dirty. Also, our bed sheets were full of yellow and even blood stains, and towels sometimes greyish and torn. This is not what you expect to get for 50 USD in Kathmandu! You can find a better room for as little as 20 USD. Also the breakfast was a basic, very low quality buffet, we only did it once. Staff was kind and the hotel has nice common spaces and wireless. Location is also good, but all together doesn't pay off for the money spent.

This is a good choice, it is in the heart of the tourist district, thamel, yet in a peaceful small road. Rooms are spacious and well kept and the garden is super for relaxing after sightseeing. Recommend the restaurant for good and good priced meals.

Room Tip: Rooms facing garden are nicer

Stayed here in April and May: first four nights while working in Kathmandu and then one night after coming back from elsewhere.
And it really did feel great coming back each afternoon after spending hours interviewing people in the grit and grime of the city (buy a facemask).
Rooms are spacious and clean with a balcony, the garden's quiet and comes with a decent restaurant.
Think it was the staff who left the biggest impression: friendly and happy to fill me in on any bizarre aspect of Nepalese life or politics I happened to ask about while waiting in the lobby.
Ok, it has no backup against the power cuts (I think that explains the slow service from the kitchen someone else mentioned) and the bathroom was a bit battered in places, but then if that's a big issue to you, you should be paying $100+ a night and staying in somewhere like the Soaltee Crown Plaza.
I paid $30 a night plus taxes for my first night. I realised I could have probably threatened to leave the second day and talked them down (it was off season), but I have learnt from experience that when you find a place this good you should stick with it and give them what you can afford.
Would quite happily be there now (he types, from his room opposite a building site)
