We like walking around from mornig till late afternoon and the wes it wonderfull to arrive in an oasis of green and silence. We stayed 11 nights in this hotel and from there we did all the trips in the central valley of Nepal. It's very good and cental located and has a very friendly staf. The food is good, but there are also good alternatives in the neighbourhood. Erwin Pairon, Antwerp, Belgium

A quiet oasis within the chaos of Thamel. I enjoyed my stay at the Kantipur Temple House. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a good location - a short walk to most of the central Kathmandu sites. Although the building is relatively new, the architecture is very traditional and attractive. They have an eco-friendly theme that I liked. The power went off from time to time, but this is a Kathmandu problem not the hotel. Give this place a try. Good value.

We stay 3 nights in Kantipur Temple, it was a very beautifull place with traditional architecture and very kind stafs. Totaly it was relaxing and it's wonderfull garden was so good in the middle of crowded Thamel. Price of room was little high due to hotel facilities but I recommend it to any one who want to stay in Kathmandu for short period.

We stayed at Kantipur temple house for 5 nights on our first visit to Kathmandu. It's just located a short walk off the main jyatha thoroughfare (Thamel) which provides easy access to numerous food joints (breakfast, lunch, dinner) . The 5-storey building is constructed in typical Nepali architecture with ornate carvings and a central courtyard. There is a lovely garden with an avocado tree and gorgeous flowers where one can participate in a daily 8 am yoga exercise class. We booked a standard room and were placed on the highest floor - quite a trudge up and down so consider this when you are making your booking. (This is an eco. hotel so there are no elevators and no air conditioning). The rooms are comfortable enough with modern en suite bathroom facilities though relatively basic. The staff are pleasant and friendly (like almost all Nepalis that I met) and the food palatable though slightly more expensive than places outside (there are many restaurants around the area where you can get good inexpensive meals). The location is really the best selling point !!

Room Tip: Higher floors are quiet but not for elderly folk or those with mobility issues

I stayed at Kantipur Temple House for 7 nights in seotember/october 2013. First of all, the Kantipur Templehouse hotel ist a beautiful "heritage" building! The staff is very friendly and helpful and the food was excellent, the food list gives a great choice. The hotel is a quiet oasis in the buisy and loud "thohuwabohu" of Thamel (Alex, Basel, Switzerland)

Room Tip: It is worth to book a luxury room (I tried both categories), because they are nicer, bigger and goin...

I booked the Kantipur Temple House for 3 nights prior to going on a trekking holiday, I read the blurb given and thought I'd give it a try.
I was absolutely thrilled at my choice.
The hotel is situated just off a main thoroughfare, albeit down an alley.
I was made very welcome on my arrival, given a welcome drink and shown to my room.
The staff were helpful but not in your face, the restaurant food was extremely good, and there's also the opportunity to do yoga in the mornings.
The gardens are lovely to sit and relax and the Hotel Manager came and had a chat about my stay and gave me some good tips for my trek.
A highly recommended hotel

Room Tip: I booked a deluxe room which looked out onto the courtyard which was lovely, but did have the mornin...

After fighting our way thru Kathmandu city from the airport, it`s as entering a paradise when going thru the gate of Kantipur Temple House. And a paradise it is! One thing is the hotel with it`s exclusive architecture and interior design, candlelit garden, nice large room with a comfortable bed, BUT the best was the extraordinary serviceminded and friendly staff! We had four nights there without one single thing to complain about.
The hotel is also quite ecofriendy, and we never missed the TV or the AC! If you are looking for a relaxing, romantic, pleasent stay, then this is your place! The bustling Thamel is right outside the gate so you can easily find that side as well. Finally we have to mention the restaurant, with very skilled staff and a menu with fantastic Nepalese dishes.
